does anyone know how to play war3beta on LAN? my copy doesn't seem to have the Local Area Network option under Multiplayer lit up. it's just gray and cannot be selected. please help.

and if you're behind a firewall or NAT, you get some problems with war3 taking a long time to respond and such

you can play on a lan...I just did Friday night!

you need to have a dedicated server machine, the server cannot also play.....just change the ip in the registry to the ip of the server machine...

NeoV: do i need a copy of war3 on the dedicated server? how do i setup the server? and do i need to leave war3 open on the server? thanks

you need to run BnetD on the server machine.

Server can play just can't make the game.. have a player joining the server make the game and then the person playing on the server can play.

ok. thanks for all the input. but unfortunately, i'm having problems installing bnetd. i have 4.25 and it needs to be compiled. i downloaded the recommended tools (Borland C++ compiler 5.5.1) and followed the instructions. i created the 2 files that were needed and etc. The only thing that doesn't work is the "make -fMakefile.BORLAND install" command. any ideas on what i did wrong?
