Dude you listed Dave Mustaine/Marty Friedman but no Kirk Hammet/James Hetfield?

You do know that this poll is a horrible way to find out "which one is better." I too agree you are simplifying it way too much, you should at least have them categorized.

Metallica sold out so they don't deserve to be mentioned.

And originally this was just two guitar players Jimi Hendrix, and Peter Frampton I just added more as they were suggested and I
thought of them.

+ it doesn't matter so much who is better at playing the guitar, what matters is who likes who's playing style and music

Damn, when I listed those few, I totally forgot Malmsteen and Gilmour. Ah well, others got them. I'm kinda disappointed no one voted for me :p

I was gonna say that whoever mentioned Hammet/Hetfield should be shot, but decided not to. There's no way they should be included in this list at all.

I went with Steve Vai only because, at least in Passion and Warfare, you can feel every note he plays, each riff is an emotion, at least IMHO.

Shame Shame Shame for not including Jeff Beck, Saul Hudson and James Hetfield "the Greatest Rhythm Guitarist in Rock History!"

Aw crap, I didn't see David Gilmour when I read through the post the first time, so I picked Angus Young instead. Anyway, they're both great.

Hendrix is obviously the best, but I voted for Jimmy Page (btw, it's 'jimmy page', not 'jimi page') :)

Wannabe? Dude, have you heard his material? Did you listen to the DreamTheater and LiquidTension stuff? (not to mention G3). Do you play the guitar well enough to comprehend the talent involved in his playing?

some of his guitar compositions sound so trite to me..i get a headache listening to those long compositions of dreamtheater which are long just for the sake of being long and dont sustain my interest, technical mastery wise, malmsteen will always be the master, atleast malmsteen signalled the arrival of the shred era of music. petrucci might be a technical master but his compositions sound so uninteresting and trite, ofcourse this is my opinion, i might not have a good music taste, so dont take any offense please...there are so many under-rated guitarists who were masters technically ...for example reb beach of winger, he was a great great guitarist, but didnt make a mark because he wasnt a pioneer in any way.hope u get my point.

When did Bela Fleck start playing guitar regularly? I've seen him 7 times with and without the Flecktones and he's never once pulled out a guitar.

Jimi Hendrix is in the lead, with Stevie Ray Vaughan coming in second and Peter Frampton and Eddie Van Halen picking up third!
