Except for that amazing fact that you respawn in Call Of Duty, whereas in war when your buddy gets his brains spread all over your helmet you cant just wait for him to respawn. Or even worse, when YOUR brains get splattered all over, YOU dont respawn. 😉

I spy Mosin Nagants. M38s, M44s, M91/30s, and a couple M91/30 PU snipers (AND a PE sniper). Lots of PPSCHs too.

Yep, dont ya wish you could get your hands on all the great guns pictured.......

M38...Check

M91/30 sniper...Still need
PPSCH...Only if I win the lotto

The PPSH-41 is the one I really want. Ohhh, I really really want. (Well, a legal version that is....)

I can barely stand to look at subguns.

This thread made me cry like a little girl.

THAT explains it!! I remember one night I went for a quick grab, and thought maybe she had left the strap on...well, strapped on. It wasnt her, it was YOU!!
Wow, your pretty well hung ya know? Makes me wish I had spent a little more time in the bedroom..... 😱

Those pictures were good but it doesn't show what wars are like, at all.
Surf the web and find pictures of Iriq. Torn, Burned, Dead bodies all over the place...that's what a war is like..

The biggest problem is that people see those 'nice, magnificent, sentimental' pictures and think that's what wars are like. Even worse, they see those clips of smart bombs destroying buildings without thinking about civilians living in those areas. I don't even wanna describe what I saw when I was in the service.

I hope my sarcasm meter is broken otherwise you need a good smacking with a trout.

There WERE color cameras back then. Only they were quite rare and expensive.

That's why there are some, not many, but some color photos and films from WWII. Nearly all are American, though. Some are German. There are none that I have seen from Russia or Japan though.

Yes, some of the most ferocious fighting the world has ever known. I am constantly in awe when I read the figures and see the footage of the battles fought on Russian soil. Things like the battle for Stalingrad or the biggest tank battle in history at Kursk.
Could you imagine what it was like being in that slaughter? Especially the battles in the sub zero temperatures. We have no idea...

Yep. I remember at one particular battle they were starving and desperate for supplies and they were air dropped condoms!!! Talk about a breakdown in the supply line.

If I recall corectly, the German supply line could only deliver 10% (give or take) of the needed provisions.

What a nightmare.

Hmm.. I thought most of the color photos from that era were "colorized" in a lab, not taken with a color camera. Hence why most of them are sephia-toned.

actually no, there actually were color cameras back then- National Geographic was one of the first major periodicals to use them, albeit sparingly cuz the photography community during that period thought that color was less classy than B&W 😕 The Sepia tone is what happens when a pic has been oxidized by lying out in the air too long. It usually takes quite a few years for that to happen, though much less time with a polaroid.

You know whats stayed the same in wars over the decades? The grunt still packs a rifle, still sleeps in the mud and still digs a hole when he gets shot at 😉

I'm not saying todays GI's have it easy, not by ANY means. But wars today are nothing compared to wars back then. You dont have to worry about finding a camp with 1000 nearly starved to death Jews. Or ovens with thousands of bodies. Or entire CITIES completely leveled and burned from shelling. War today isnt easy, but it sure aint the war of yesteryear!

AFAIK those belong to Western Firearms here in Texas (outside of Dallas). They aren't for sale, but they have some other Thompsons that are.
