WAP question

My current setup at home is such that I have a wireless router plugged into my cable modem upstairs. Then downstairs I have another WAP. I did this so I could get a strong signal anywhere in my house. My question concerns that WAP.

It's made by Belkin, first of all. It has an RJ-45 port on the back labelled "LAN". According to the manual, this port would be used to connect to a switch or router. Would it be possible to configure the WAP to use that port to connect a PC? I'm thinking it might have something to do with forcing it into bridging mode, but I'm not sure.

Anyone out there have any ideas?

Oh, and BTW, the internals for this WAP are supposedly identical to the Linksys WAP. The chipset is made by AMTEL, I believe.

Ah, so Client mode, not Bridging mode...

After some Googling, I came across a hack that might allow me to run my WAP in Client mode. I'll post my results later.

One more question...

If I am able to get my WAP into Client mode, will it still provide connectivity to other wireless devices (my laptop) like it does currently?

As a client it can only receive Wireless and provide the signal through CAT5.

To receive and transmit you need an AP that can be configured as a Repeater. (D-Link900AP+).
