Which hotel is the best? I would like something preferably in the middle of the strip and not on the edge.

So far I know of the Bellagio and New York New York

I want to say price is not a big deal but at the same time, what would be the difference between paying an extra $300 per person to stay @ the bellagio than let's say the Mirage MGM?
Ok so the building looks cool but what else? Am I paying for the name?

FYI, they are two different hotels. I would opt for Bellagio or Wynn or The Venetian. You could always try Circus Circus. Its the tops. Just sayin, ya know.

Check out Cheapo Vegas They do a good job of filling you in on the highlights of each hotel. Kinda funny, but pretty informative.

BTW, the Circus Circus reference above was all in jest.

Edit: Actually, for the price and location, Paris is a nice hotel to stay at. Not too fancy, right in the middle of the action, and if you get a good room, you can watch the fountains at the Bellagio, naked.

Peace

I've stayed in Paris, it was pretty nice. The Bellagio is right across the street.

Every hotel is essentially the same (casino + buffets + restaurants + hotel rooms) with varying degrees of niceness depending on how much you're willing to spend.

I highly recommend catching Penn & Teller at the Rio if you go. Otherwise, I didn't really see that much appeal in Las Vegas the few times I went... yeah, it's neat, but way overpriced for what you get.

with so much to do for a first time visitor, where you sleep really doesn't matter, you wont be in your room all that much, a nice room is well, nice however. They're all so close together you can check out what each one has on foot.

The Flamingo is right in the middle (near Caesar's Palace and the Bellagio) and it's one of the cheaper hotels on the strip because it's older.

I go once a year for an industry convention and they usually put us up at the Paris, which is pretty nice. If I was going for pleasure I'd probably stay at the Bellagio.

Yup, that's where I'm staying when I go there next week. I've never stayed there before but my friend did and he said it's a decent hotel. Besides, we're probably gonna be out the whole time.

The Barbary Coast is 1 block off the strip behind Caesars. If it is still there, their price was very reasonable - no extras flair, but a nice center point for the strip without the strip facing cost.

The Gold Coast (no relation) is on the strip next to Ceasars and would be similar to the Barbary.

Barbary Coast is not 1 block off the strip and it is not behind Caesars...it is across the street, on the corner of Flamingo and Las Vegas Blvd. And it is now called Bill's Gambling Hall & Saloon.

Probably the best place to check out the latest deals on hotels in Vegas is here.
P.S. - Don't post any requests in the thread or you'll get flamed out of existence.

Damn I wish I had seen that thread before I booked my vacation. Thanks for the link though!

Bellagio has a very nice bathroom with a very nice tub. Might score some points with the lady.

Nicer furniture, very comfy bed.

will also be about 75 more than other hotels.

Even though their rooms and lounges are nice, don't eat at the Bellagio cafe. Much better food to be had elsewhere. The patisserie and chocolate fountains there are nice to see though.

Also bellagio pool is nice though not as filled with hotties as say the palms.

Apparantly, for the same priced room in the Bellagio, you can get bigger rooms in the Venetian. And it's concept is wicked (Venice, and it's water canals), as well as the ever-present rose smell in the lounge.

The Wynn, OTOH, is a hotel for the people that like "pizzaz"

Yes, venetian also has very nice rooms and a bit cheaper than Bellagio. I still feel more like a baller at Bellagio though but Venetian definitely is nice.

Venetian also has Bouchon which is nice for breakfast (excellent french toast) or an upscale but not overly fussy bistro meal.

But more importantly, does it make you feel like a "shot-caller?"

Yes, though I tend to stop at the 19 inch blades.

Our family stayed there summer of 06. It was nice hotel for any place outside of Vegas. The AC worked great and overall the place had an older feel, but still nice. Plus, again it was nice being in the middle of everything.
