Wanting to unload a buy.com gc

Hi, I normally just frequent the hot deals forum, but am pretty sure I'd get flamed if I started this thread there, so I hope you guys can help me.

I'm looking to unload a $100 buy.com gift certificate from Etrade, to me, for about $95. I have a paypal account, and my brother has a paypal account that is verified, and I could use either one.

What steps could I take to ensure that I would not get ripped off in a deal like this, and to reassure the potential buyer that I don't intend to rip him off?

I've never really used paypal that much; once my brother owed me money, I sent a paypal request, and it eventually got cancelled for some reason... so it's never really worked well for me. But, since I do plan on buying something soon from eB@y, I could use the funds in there.

Also, what would be the best way in looking for someone wanting to trade?

Thanks for your help,
Adam.

Don't tell him to go there! This is off topic there! He's asking for advice...sheesh...I'm not knowledgable to help you, but you're in the right place.

and advice is what we're giving him: "try the FT/FS forum" --> answer to "what would be the best way in looking for someone wanting to trade?"

<< Don't tell him to go there! This is off topic there! >>

WTF! This is not off topic in the FS/FT Forum! GC are bought and sold regularly. He is selling a $100 GC for $95, money is to be exchanged.

Sound like a perfect For Sale thread to me.

<< He's asking for advice >>

And the advise is to post in the For Sale forum, it will get a much faster response.

<< I'm not knowledgable to help you >>

You pretty much summed it up right there!

He is asking advice, he would get flamed in FS/FT.

The WannaBe Mods take care of that.

I suggest that you trade phone #'s, make a call. Talk to the person buying it.

By the way, $5 off isn't going to fly too fast around here. People are looing for a better deal. We are too used to getting 40-50% off 🙂

yah $5 off is really cold deal dude. Don't even bother posting that on the forsale trade if you expect to get responses. Think of a reasonable price for it, and post that fixed price on the forsale/trade forum. There's no bidding allowed. The lower the price the quicker you'll move it..

isnt transfering GC's against policy? not only the GC issuer but AT forums as well? good thing you didnt post this in FS/T youd be slapped around by the mods for sure.

Sorry Train, your wrong. Maybe you should hangout in FS/FT more often, it doesn't appear that you post there often. Why don't you do a little research first?

Just go in to the FS/FT forum and type in GC in the search box at the top of the page. LOTS of them are traded or sold. None of them look locked to me!

well excuse me, you obviosly have a lot of time on your hands unlike me, but i do know certain things like coupon codes, etc are banned in hot deals forum, but even though im not sure about AT policy, im sure most retailers strictly prohibit the transfer of gift certiicates

Train:
You wrote: im sure most retailers strictly prohibit the transfer of gift certiicates

That may be true, I do not know that info.

You also wrote: you obviosly have a lot of time on your hands unlike me

Highly unlikely, your average # of posts per day is only 1.95 posts/day less than me. I would agree that I spend more of my available time in FS/FT than you, that's all.

damm, you are a tard.

Instead of pulling words out of your ars, how about telling us specific examples of retailers that ban transferring of GC's? Other than unique GC's coded to an email, which is very rare?

Im waiting.
