Wanting a tablet for netflix/hulu, but I want the EeePad ><

Am I really going to have to be forced to buy the Ipad 2 ><? I really like a full flash supported browser and the interface of honeycome looks sick. But it looks like only the iOS has fully working Netflix/Hulu app, le sigh (doesn't android have a higher user base now?).


Should I wait for maybe for support in the future or just go with the ipad2? Eeepad really fits my budget fine (~$400 ish with tax/s&h).
 
That's one of the biggest reasons I have an iPad 2 and not a Transformer. With Netflix now being on the phones I would imagine it won't be long before it makes it to the tablets, but how long is the question. In the end I am very happy with the iPad and am even thinking iPhone 5 now.
 
My hacked Nook Color has Netflix and Hulu. In fact it has better than iPad Hulu because you don't have to pay a monthly fee.

Of course if you came by this forum by mistake and hacking a little to get this functionality is beyond you, enjoy your iPad.....

Unless you need it 'this very moment', I would say wait. Tablets are only going to get cheaper.

This is the stupidest freaking argument ever and I'm not sure why so many users (especially Android users) cling to it. "Well, if you just root it'll be great, or are you not technologically savvy enough?" Seriously? That's your ace in the hole? What if I don't want to hack it? What if I simply want a device to work out of the box? Does EVERYTHING have to be hacked/rooted/modded/jailbroken/OC'd to make it work how I want it to?

This elitist BS mindset is turning me away from Android faster than anything. For years I've thought iOS elitists were the worst but it's rapidly turning into the "Oh look how techno-savvy I am" Android users who piss me off worse than anyone.
 
Does Android specify a hacked nook Color as a Phone or Tablet? I would think it would be phone, wouldn't it?

I have a rooted, ROM'd, and kernaled EVO. I can certainly hack a NC if I wanted too. Some people actually want a fully functional tablet, having to spoof hardware buttons isn't exactly what I call complete, among other things.

What I got from that in the context of Hulu/Netflix was if you dont want to hack then stick with the iPad.

Which is a fair argument. Yes he could have been a bit more polite in the way he phrased it but it sums up the situation and your options well.

I'd buy an iPad. It's just no contest right now.

I don't know what to tell you, I can get both to kinda work on my Nook Color, but they stall or crash often. It's not a very clean solution.

Eventually it'll be great, but not sure when.

It was a joke (obviously a bad one). I apologize.

I have bought both a Nook Color and an iPad 2 in the last four months so I am not innately biased for one over the other. A Nook Color is a great option if you hack, an iPad is a better option if you don't want to hack. Considering that the iPad 2 is unhackible (as in no jailbreaks yet) they are basically opposites. Pick what fits you best.

Actually the softbuttons on the newer versions of CM7 for the Nook make it very usuable. I never use the one hardware button it has anymore. Don't knock it till you try it!
 
I have both as well, the iPad is flipping awesome out of the box, the nook color is awesome with some tweaking.

For me, the frustrating thing is keeping the nook color up to date with the hacks, it sits in the corner much of the time, gathering dust, where my iPads are used every day, they always work.

Sadly mine are collecting dust because I discovered I have no real need for a tablet.

I like screwing around with them at work.... but beyond that they have lost their appeal to me.

@OP - Just make sure you really want a tablet over other netbooks/laptops.

I honestly feel the opposite. The Nook Color hacking has been a bunch of fun, and it has been a great introduction to Android for me since its unbrickable. I now feel sad that development is maturing- the next stable CM7 will have everything working that one could expect to work.

On the other hand, I wish I could hack the iPad. All the cool tricks my biggest iFriend showed me with his iPad 1 (on demand tether, emulators, using non-approved bluetooth devices, mass storage support) I can't do because the iPad 2 lacks unteathered jailbreak. The fact that the next iPhone with come with the same hard to jailbreak core is pushing me away from the entire platform.

So in the end, it is all about your needs, wants and expectations.

I have both a rooted Nook Color and the Asus Transformer with dock. I have Netflix and Hulu working on my Nook but... I love the larger screen of the Transformer, I'm running the TF stock, not rooted and am confident that TF will get access to both at some point soon as Asus is very aggressively looking for market share.

BTW, the screen on the TF is beautiful.
