Wanting a little advice on system: upgrade or not?

Here is my current system I use for games:

AMD Athlon 64 2800+ Socket 754 Stock HSF non-OC
Abit KV8-Pro
OCZ EL 1GB (2 x 512MB) DDR 400 Dual Channel Kit
Sapphire Radeon X800 XT 256MB AGP
2 WD Raptor WD360GD RAID 0
1 WD Caviar SE WD1200JB
Chieftec Dragon Case Black
Antec TRUE480 480W PSU
LITE-ON Combo Drive SOHC-5232K
Sony Black 1.44 Floppy

Was considering upgrading a few parts with these

AMD Athlon 64 X2 3800+ AM2
ASUS M2N-E
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) DDR2 800 Dual Channel Kit TWIN2X2048-6400C4
Connect3D Radeon X1900XT 512MB PCI-E
Antec P180 Silver

I want to know If it is better to keep current system and just get a 24" LCD monitor OR upgrading and getting a 24" lcd. If its not really a big difference between the 2 Game performance wise then i'd rather save the money. Any advice on a good gaming lcd?

Adding a little more. I kinda want to get an Xbox 360. I might save money on system and get a bigger lcd instead. How much do good 30 in lcd's for gaming and xbox 360 go for?

I take it that you are going to be gaming on it (accoring to the last line in the post)? If you are you are going to notice a difference in performance. Enough to warrant the price it is going to cost to replace a whole system? probably not. If it was me I would hold of on the upgrade for another 1-2 months until the Conroe situation sorts out or until the price of AM2 chips are dirt cheap. With the upgrade you are talking about there it would make more sense.

Wait and upgrade to Conroe. I'd guess by Oct. the waters will be clearer. On the LCD, you could upgrade to a better monitor now, but you may have a problem running the most current games on a nice big 24" LCD at native resolution with the x800XT.

This is actually a fairly good time to sit on your money. Waiting a few months could be well worth it.

I afraid the upgrade to a silver 180 is going to do absolutely nothing for your frame rate...
Did I say "absolutely nothing"? I meant... Zip... Zilch... Zero... Nada...

What do you want the xbox 360 for? You can get a lot of the xbox games for the pc anyway... as far as 30" lcds, there are only 2: a dell and an apple. The apple is ~$700 more expensive, but looks better and performs a little better. The dell is very good though. I'd wait to get c2d. Are you interested in overclocking? Gigabyte makes a conroe board that has been shown hitting 501fsb!!!!!! With that kind of ability, you could get a modest e6300 to 4ghz no problemo.

Im thinking about waiting a while and just keeping current system and getting a 20 inch lcd is probably a better choice. It would save me 1500 on system and 400 on lcd. And when I do upgrade i could just have 2 full computers and 2 lcd's.
