wanted: PCI video card

Hi there. I am currently looking for a decent priced PCI slot video card for my celeron 2.6ghz comp with a onboard 64mb video card. I tried running unreal2004 beta on the system and it kinda lags like a bitch. So yea... i need to upgrade it before the game comes out. btw, i have 256mb of ram.

watch the officemax sales papers this sunday. I believe they will have a nVidia PCI on sale.

I put a GF fx5200 in a system and it looked alright
it overclocks like 15-20% on both memory and core

that's gotta beat any gf2 or gf4 mx
and you get dx9

also i would upgrade your system memory another 256mb if you wanna beef that up without having to go all out

many games these days have no problem taking over 400mb while playing the game or while loading the game

A 9100 would be the best pci card to get. But even with a new video card both your slow cpu and low amount of ram are going to cause problems.

he is still more powerfull than the minimum reguirements for most games

aka

1ghz athlon/p3 or better
256mb mem (recommend 512mb)

he is right at the borderline of supporting every game out right now with a simple vid card upgrade

the ati card is also good too i suppose (couldn't find any 9100 radeons on newegg tho)

atleast for this year's games if he upgrades his vid and mem

Exactly, the celeron may be 2.6ghz but it performs way lower than any other 2.6ghz processor. I'm not saying it won't run, but it probably won't run that great. Meeting the minimum requirments doesn't really say much. Just look at halo; I think it requires something like a 700mhz cpu, 128mb ram, and a 32mb t&l video card. Now, you know any rig that just barely *meets* those requirements is going to run it like a slide show.
