Wanted: Good, Free Basic System Benchmarks Program

I've ended up with too many computers (thanks Hot Deals). Anyway, I need to do some basic benchmarking in order to decide what to keep and what to sell.

Thanks, I'll keep those in mind for 3D. How about just to kind of check the overall systems against one another. Like to be able to say my computer is faster than yours.

Why those? That site looks really amateur and the one program is still in Beta. I don't have a good feeling about downloading/installing those. Can anyone vouch for these programs and say if they're any good?

I'd use super pi if I wanted to test cpu speed.

You did say free, and free programs are not usually as as advanced as is available otherwise. But HD Tach 3 is a good program. The only others that come to mind are Sandra Lite and Everest, but I don't think that Everest is available free any longer.

3dmark as It can test CPU and Video card performance or SuperPi for CPU to CPU comparisons

Use hdtach, linked to in the third post, to benchmark your hard disks. It gives you average seek times, str, cpu utilization, etc. The really handy feature is that you can compare your results to a bunch of different set-ups and the results they submitted.

I use Everest and Sisoft Sandra for CPU, the 3dMarks for CPU and Video card.
