I'd like an email client that is capable of ALL of the following:

  1. Extensive Rule Building
    • Ability to archive messages based on text, subject, sender, etc.
    • Act according to number of attachments and file types.
  2. Auto Reply
    • Ability to send messages based on recieved emails WITH text from recieved emails. For example, if I know every email will have the line "NAME = JOE" I'd like to send a reply "HEY JOE."
  3. Save Archives
    • The client MUST support the ability to save and restore across computers, reformats, etc.
  4. Convenience
    • (Not Neccesary) A built in spam feature, similar to Gmail. Hey I can wish!
    • (Not Neccesary) A built in feature to import my messages and rules form outlook.

Anyone know of such a utility? I'm currently using outlook express.

i think mozilla thunderbird can do some, if not most of all this. im using it, and the spam filter is great! it "learns" from what junk mail you get.

I did some googling and it looks like thunderbird does not support message rules.... So no one knows of an uber powerful email client? It doesn't have to be pretty, it just has to give me ultimate control over the messages.

Message rules? Like putting a particular received email from bob in the bob folder? I'm pretty sure Thunderbird does that.
