Want Tri-SLI AND room for a PCI Sound Card? Try This

I was wondering if these existed. Will be running SLI which as you know, knocks out most PCI/PCI-E slots on almost all x58 boards. The Gigabyte layout would have worked but I couldn't handle the colors.

You got in on that EVGA x58 early, initial shipment scooped up same day. How's your build? My 260's arrive tomorrow, everything else waiting.

Hey how do you like the Logitech G51 system? Fix your sig.. you're running GTX 380's.. 😉

Link worked fine for me (FireFox 3).

I'm not familiar with server equipment though -- if you use those PCI risers, then where does the PCI bracket end up? Do you mod the case?

The signature is intentional...I want 380's in SLI, but it you look above I'm only running a single GTX 280. 😉

Honestly, I think I really need another card for this X58 platform to live up to its hype.. but as of now I have the CPU on stock cooling at 3.83GHz. Still waiting on my Thermalright TRUE Copper to arrive before I crank up the clocks.

I bought the Logitech G51's the day after they were released in October 07 for $50 off MSRP (yeah..CircuitCity had this amazing secret deal that apparently only I saw). They are absolutely EXCELLENT combined with an X-Fi card. From an audiophile perspective of pc hardware, I don't think it gets any better than this for the price...no, really.

My bad, I was drawn to the "dream" part of the sig! Throw another 280 in the mix later. 🙂

Yea I've had my eye on the Logitech G51's. I have the Z-5300e set, but find the single driver sats seriously lacking. Plenty of bass, too much sometimes. The G51 set looks like it was refined to balance things out a bit. Thanks for the info..

i have a Z-5300e set myself. probably not going to replace it for a while though. the cost of upgrading it to be on par with my headphones (Ultrasone PRO-2500s) or hell even my headset (again ultrasone, dont remember the model, its like $245 retail) though would be astronomical, so i probably will stick with these speakers for a long time lol. as for the topic at hand, im probably going to order a dozen of those (6 of each) just so i can have them on hand in case i ever need them. thats something i have been looking for for a long time, since moving the sound card farther away from the video card makes it sound better due to decreased EMI

In concept it will work, but in practice it'll be tough. If you're going for 3-SLi, you'll probably be using cards with dual-slot coolers, which take up two expansion slots each. Most mid-towers have 7 expansion slots, but you'd to feed the riser cables around the cards to the free slot on the end. Could be tricky, but it can probably be done.

Alternately, like Amber was asking, mod the case...where there's normally the "vent" punchout next to the expansion slots, cut your own expansion slot and bolt the card there.
