I am trying to find chat software that I can push out to a local area network only. It just has to be a real time chat and free. Anyone use anything? I found a bunch of different software out there,Winpopup NET messenger 1.2, is one.

You can set up an IRC or Jabber server and limit it to your your internal network.

Jabber server and Jabber clients.

I use wildfire jabber server in the office and Gaim chat clients. All free and it was pretty easy to set up. I just have the server running on an old laptop. :)

I like the idea of a server and client. Primarily so I can issue people contact lists and the what not. Do any of these hook into Windows AD? I will research both of these choices.
