I applied. I hope I get in. 😱 2.96 from my first semester here at GCC, is that too low to get into Pitt?

That is so ridiculous. Talk about GPA deflation.

Huh?

I'm not sure if that's an insult to me, or to Pitt, or...what.

Is a 2.96 really that bad for my first semester?

Okay let me ask this: Is it practically a necessity for me to be in a frat at Pitt to have any fun at all? I'm hoping not.

Hey, I'm a junior at PITT main. right now in the Computer Engineering Department, and I'm even in a Fraternity. We try not to call the "frats." Its tends to have a negative conatation on the word.

I live in North Oakland becuase i took summer classes last summer. and i rather enjoy my apartment. South Oakland ain't too bad, but is a little shady at times, depending on the street you live on. I know when the Steelers won the champ game, a few coaches went up in flames down there, but that's Pittsburgh for ya.

If you have any other questions drop me a PM.

CE, wow, that's exactly what I applied for! Well right now I'm just worried about getting in and about getting housing. If I pay my $300 deposit now do you think I have a good chance of getting into the dorms in the fall as a sophomore?

Well, hmm, I'm not sure how housing works for transfer students. I know that as an undergrad starting here, i was garunteeded (sp?) housing for 3 years. I did have a friend who commuted from home his sophmore year, and then was able to get housing his junior year ( this year). Having the housing deposit in always a good thing. But, I think for my friends case, he was not garenteend housing, but found out after the selection proccess for the students already here.

Honestly, your best bet is to call Panther Centralat 412-648-1100 to get the low down on Housing.

What do you mean by the bolded part? Did he not enter as a freshman?

If I couldn't get housing I don't know what I'd do. I want to transfer to Pitt but I think everything would get screwed up living at home.

Sorry, i guess I wasn't clear. My friend is currently enrolled as an Undergrad, CoE, like me. He lived on Campus his freshman year, then Commuted from home his Sophmore year. found it it sucked cuase he lived 40 min away, so he applied for On campus housing. He got on Campus housing, but i'm not sure when he found out since he did live on campus the previous year, I don't think he was Technially grarenteed for his Junior year.

For all students who are in the Dorms, You get a housing lottery number which tells you what time you can pick your new Dorm room for the following year. I think in my friends case, he had to wait for the lottery to end, and then also had to wait for the all the rooms to be filled by th e incoming freshman class. But some of this is conjecture on my part, since i haven't really talke to him about how it works out.

I need to know if a 2.96 looks that bad or not for this school. I haven't completed 24 credits yet so they should look at my high school records, as well, so that's good.
