Want to switch to CFL light bulbs...

Any other places to buy 10-30 CFL bulbs besides Ebay?

What is a decent price to pay per bulb after shipping? Cheapest I found on Ebay is $1.30. Although, I don't know the quality of the bulbs, so if there is any other place to buy them from, I would not mind paying a bit more for peace of mind.

Are they sold in 10 pound boxes?

Don't try to run them off alternators - even BEEFed up ones. They will flicker and die.

A couple of months ago I bought a pack of 8 ( I think ) General Electric 60W equivalent CFLs for 13 bucks at Sams Club. I think it's got a warranty or something ( though i doubt anyone ever bothers ) as long as you save the reciept and the box or something.

I don't have a membership at Sams or Costco. Usually they are like 5 bucks each at regular stores. I figure I could find a decent deal online, if not I'll just ask a friend and go with them to Sams club...

we bought ours(~15-20) when they were practically giving them away.$1-2(maybe less)
homedepot was handing them out for free at one point.
wally world is where we got most of ours.

I think you can buy them in "contractors" boxes, at HD or lowes

Minis are smaller and suited for tight fixtures like porch lights and recessed ceiling fixtures. Wattage determines output - all CFL's have about the same efficacy (lumen/watt) rating although the higher color temp ones as well as ones with higher quality light (better color rendition) due tend to put out less lumens per watt. (but in any case far exceed their incandescent replacements!)

10 bulbs isn't bulk! Hell, that's even smaller than an alternator!

The power company in my state hosts power conversation events where you can buy any size CFL bulb (even the 100W equivalent models) for $1 a piece. I'm not sure if other states are doing that as well, though.

Costco and Sams seem to have good prices on good quality name brand ones.

Don;t get the cheap no name ones for rooms you will use a lot.

People already mentioned the stores, but make sure you ask about rebates. Power companies frequently provide subsidies for CFLs. I know, by me, I could buy six 60w comparable CFLs for around $2 after rebates for a while.

OP-I don't know where you live but our California 99 Cent Only stores have 2 60 watt equivalent bulbs for [drum roll] 99 cents.

A somewhat local store called menards often has them for a little over $1 each and almost always for $2 each.

Home Depot carries 8 and 16 packs, the 16 pack was like $20 or something on sale last time I bought one. I have a few packages still kicking around, the things last forever.
