I used to get migraines...then I found coffee helped the migraines, only to be replaced by the caffeine headache when I tried to stop...Other day I was so bad, I had to drink a Mt. Dew Amp, and take 2 Excedrin migraines, which also have caffeine, in order to kill my caffeine induced migraine...

Erm.... 😵

I'm surprised no one has tried to use No Doze, or any other caffeine pill.

I used to drink a lot of soda. On a average day I would drink about 5 to 6 sodas and 1 rockstar energy drink. I tried quitting cold turkey but the combination of cutting out caffeine and the massive amounts of sugar was too much for me to take and was back on the soda after a couple of days. I then tried to cut out the soda again by substituting 1 soda for 1 glass of water and a caffeine pill, after about 2 weeks the sugar dependency was gone and then I started phase out the caffeine pills. The whole process took a little more than 3 weeks but I got through the whole ordeal without heads or withdrawal pains. I still drink sodas now but it's limited 1 to 2 sodas a day and I got into the habit of drinking glasses of water throughout the day.

For trying to get off caffiene you want something that is not specifically made to have a lot of it. Many of those pills have as much or more caffiene than coffee. Excedrin however, has slightly less plus it is a lot cheaper.

Damn, I have a lot of tea, and coffee to finish off if I am to quit when I run out.

But maybe the Excedrin thing will work for me. I bought it specifically for a migraine, that may have been the caffeine headache.

From what I understand the effects of caffiene withdrawl are similar to a migraine. It has to do with blood vessels (I could be wrong about that, I just know that the only thing that helped me when I had a migraine was excedrin quicktabs, aka caffiene directly into the blood stream).

Rather than take caffeine pills, or substitute sugary drinks, why not just start "cutting" your regular coffee with decaf and wean yourself off? Start with like 1/4 decaf and work yourself up to 100% decaf. I never understood people who drank super-gulp sized amounts of coffee in the mornnig. I have about 12-16oz, none on the weekends, and never get headaches.

The way I quit caffeine was to get a nice little kidneystone. Yup. Hurt like a mother and mostly because of the god-awful amounts of Mountain Dew and coffee I drank daily before.

Do yourself a favor and consume something that doesn't help dehydrate you.

he said he hates the taste of coffee so we were trying to come up with alternate solutions to that.
