i have a volcano 6cu (no the + version), its a 5000rpm fan, very high piched, i was wondering if i could put a quiet 80mm on it, or something, is it possible, if not, are there any quiet 60mms, i have a tbird 1.4 with one case fan at the moment, 45idle 49 fullload, i will put another 80mm case fan in it, they are faily quiet, now i just need a low pitched fan for my HS

I'm using a 2800 rpm 80mm fan on my 6cu+, much quieter, that pitch was nastly. Had to get an adapter, but it works fine.

Do those adapters really work? It looks like the air flow would be horrible. Does the fan blow into it, or suck out of it? The hole in the middle looks like it's only 40mm.

I got mine from bigfootcomputers.com, canadian site.

It works great, no restrictions on airflow.

I'd just replace the heatsink... Personally, i think its cheaper.... I'd recommend the AOC D5-825 which is currently out of stock at Newegg, sells for $14 shipped. Another option, a little quieter is the SVC GC-68 from www.svcompucycle.com or www.case-mod.com . The AOC one is the exact same heatsink, just with a louder fan. The GC-68 runs at 27dBa, alot quieter than your thermal take screamer
