Want to put 2nd drive in my HP envy 17 no connections though

Looks like it has a place for a 2nd drive but no hard drive caddy and no connections. I already replaced the 750gb 5200rpm drive with a SSD but I want the 750 for my second drive. Any help appreciated.

google you can find the parts online (aftermarket) cheap. the same place sells the caddies for the dvd-rom to drive for (everyone that makes laptops including apples)

Thanks. Has anyone ever used that site newmodeus that sells the caddy? I'd like to know they are legit before I give em my credit card info.

Just wanted to update that I got the hard drive caddy and cable from newmodeus and it's all good stuff with fast shipping too. Cost $42 would of cost $80 from HP. Very happy with it.

That still seems ridiculous but I only had to get a drive caddy and "adopter" for my Vostro's second drive. Cost me in the $20 range.

Hi,

With my IBM T43 and R52 I only need to use a 2nd Drive caddy to replace the Optical drive. Cost $20.00 shipped for each one.

For SATA adapters in the T60 and T510, they run about twice as much. Inflation?

some of the older units had pata to sata bridges included. buy china ebay junk to save money but don't cry if it doesn't fit just right due to bad molds.

newmodeus is pretty spot on on their "clone" items. they fit right and most people can't tell. there is a price ratio for that.

Then again if you buy a macbook (unibody) you can do the same and never have to deal with outside looks 😉

As for primery drive caddies, I use NewmodeUS caddies in both my Lenovo T60 and T510 laptops. They are really indistinguishable from the OEM versions, and come complete with the soft rubber side rails. They do not apply, however, to the 2nd HDD adapter. That is with the Ultrabay adapter that replaces the optical drive. SATA HDDs simply drop in and connect - no screws or fasteners.
