I wouldn't call the Wargame series a great RTS either, at least for single player, which is mostly what I play these days. Can't comment on the multi.

In the single player, you have to know the map before playing it, if you want to end with some veteran units, and that is the biggest thing I hate about a lot of RTS games. When further missions become harder to beat if you don't own earlier ones (ie know everything about them).

Oh aye the single player was meh. The newer ones dont even have missions its a bunch of fights with the AI basically. Kinda like what the later dawn of war games had for single player. Its definitely all about the multiplayer.

Providence?

The whole 3-part series, of which the game I mentioned above (Moon Project), is $1.39 this week on Steam. Haven't played it? Three games for that, and GOOD RTS games to boot... sold.

Don't know if search will show it from 'Moon Project', search Earth 2150.

Ya that was an epic RTS series years ago. Tunneling underground, putting lasers on anything, UCS fortress with dual heavy plasma cannons and AA, bring it! Germans trashed me on the multiplayer (with minelayer spam... of all things!!) but single player was fun.

I thought C&C Generals had a great mix of RTS features.

I'd be totally happy if they simply updated the game with better graphics.
the zoom was pathetic. if they ever fixed that, i'd love to play it. imho the best C&C since the 1995 original.

Got an Android phone?

Check out Clash of Clans. It's HOT right now. And it's free, but if you want to drop a few ($20-50) on IAPs then do it!

Awesome game. :)

Yes. Best game ever! it's android or ios, and also works on android emulators like bluestacks for pc.

Sins of a Solar Empire is the correct answer.

How do Trinity and Rebellion compare? I've been sitting with Trinity on my Wishlist since the Holiday Sale, hoping it hits $5 or so again. I didn't know what the difference (in terms of gameplay and all-around quality) between the two games.

This is the reason I stop playing these modern RTS games. WTF do you need to zoom in so close for? In RTS game we need to see what is going on in the entire battle.

Phone & RTS does not compute with me. How do you deal with the screen size?

Ahh. It's actually not an rts. I did a search for clash and found the post above referencing it, and then added to the off topicness since I didn't catch the title. Oops. It's a strategy and base building game. Raid other people's bases to gain resources to improve your own. Your defense depends on building arrangement and level. Can only be attacked while offline.

with all due respect, i really dont like it. *really*

also, as i have said before, there's a game called supreme commander TWO which, in my opinion, is a good RTS .. just not a supreme commander-like game. but still good. i played it almost as much as i played SUPCOM.
first game or two might be a bit traumatic .. doesn't work the same as supcom.

Supcom 2 was garbage IMO :colbert: Real shame because the first game was pretty awesome apart from the crappy gpg.net online system.

CoC is meh in my opinion. Very predictable and boring. I am not a fan of the business model used by developers of these free-to-play android games.
