I went to high school in mercer island, great community, but should be very expensive to live there now.
Issaquah is good and rent is affordable, visited my brother a few times there.
I hated west seattle area.

Around dc traffic isn't about bad drivers because there is way too much congestion for that to mater much. Driving tacoma to seattle and it's like the things you find in thee driver manual are suggestions instead of requirements.

That's another possibility. We like the idea of the Pacific Northwest, but if not Seattle something else in the region might be ok as well. We've also toyed with the idea of moving to Colorado, Denver specifically. Mainly, we want out of the south, don't like the idea of Texas, and want somewhere with a lot of out door recreational activities.

If you're interested in the Northwest in general, check out Oregon too - especially if you like crafted beer.
