I have had an epson stylus color 400 chained up with a Mustek 1203 ep flatbed scanner for the longest time. Now I want to put the scanner on one of the com ports, and the printer on the parallel. But all my attempts at doing this has ended in failure. I have checked Musteks webpage and found no drivers or information on this subject...Hoping someone can shed some light on this for me.

thanks

does the scanner support serial ports?

never heard of one that did, since the bandwidth over a serial port is too slow for anything...

get a add-in parrallel port card to add a second parallel port to your comp...should be real cheap, but i think they r only isa...u might be able to find a pci one...

If you have an isa slot those add on PP are nice, I have one, but alas no more ISA slot.. perhaps they make one in PCI but I havent seen one..another idea is to simply use a PP data switch..they are pretty good also.

Your post had it backwards. You said you want to put the printer on a com port. Now you say the scanner. The printer is the way to go. the scanner, even if it would work on the com port would be extremely slow. Many printers have been designed for years to work on com ports to overcome the cable length limits of paralell ports.
