right now i have a 7900gt with e8400
i am gonna go do some shopping in an hour or two,
i am thinking to get a HD4850.

should i do it today or wait for a week or two?

The only reason I can see to wait is perhaps someone will release the card with a better third party cooler. If that isn't what you're worried about then just buy now.

+1. The 48xx series runs a little hot. Plus, after the 4870X2 launch, Nvidia will hopefully cut prices enought to force ATi to cut their prices. Competition is good for the consumer. Normally I'd say get what you can, but we're on the eve of a major hard launch by ATi. So my vote would be sit tight and wait a while. But that's just my vote.

Also Nvidia just announced the price reduction. Give it time to stew and see where the discounts and rebates start popping up. I'm sure lots of promo's are in the works for the next few weeks. MSRP will be a joke.
