want to hack my cell phone!

samsung sgh x475

it's generic, but I just realized for myself that you are paying 1 or 2 bucks to download a 10 second song in MIDI format, I'm like.... WHAT THE FREAK

shouldn't I be able to achieve this on my own?

thats why i won't get a cell phone cause the bluetooth one i like with verizon is partially disabled. teh bluetooth won't allow me to transfer my own ringtones from my pc to the phone. thats bogus. no money to verizon from me until they (if ever 🙁) fix it

If you're talking about the E815 it's actually quite easy to hack.

i just did it this past weekend

Verizon is easy to hack.

Verizon phones are ghey. Bluetooth partially crippled. Idiotic. Smart people don't get T-Mobile phones and instead get unlocked phones from the manufacturer. Win!

since when do you need to "hack" a mobile to download your own things? Don't you just need the right connection cable (or bluetooth receiver) and appropriate software? I have an inexpensive nokia, I can hook it up to my pc and transfer tones, wallpapers, archived messages, send text messages, etc.

This is what you need, allows you to hook your phone up to your computer:

Data Kit

The Data Kit provides connectivity from your Samsung phone to your computing devices which provides you with the following capability:

Send Emails from Phonebook or SMS List
Download Melodies and Images
Easy Software Updates
File Manager

The kit comes with a data cable, CD, and User's Manual. Enjoy being entertained, having connectivity, productivity and mobility any where you may go

Product ID: PKT139TBEG/STD

Just make sure you don't connect to the internet thru your mobile, it will cost a fortune.

Some phones they lock the firmware to prevent you from uploading/downloading items. If that's your phone, search google for unlock [model] phone, and while that may not resolve your problem (unlocking is for carrier, not for firmware) it may lead you to the right pages to do the rest.

Howard Forums is a good source, linked above.

You can probably find one from a third party manufacturer and get it for about 15-30 dollars.

Check howardforums.com for the best info on the subject.
