They couldn't have picked a better city to put the Van Gogh museum in. Get stoned and visit it, a one or two time smoke will only stay in your system for 7-10 days.

edit: though I should say I lost a job for precisely this reason (smoking pot in Amsterdam) because they did a hair test 3 months later

I agree, definitely not the best place to go if you want that.

Visit Brazil or some country with exotic, erotic, cheap women.

Most people that visit Amsterdam tend to enjoy the laissez-faire attitude toward crack babies.

and yeah, if you're just going to get laid...why? Amsterdam is a great cultural city, but it seems 95% of the American tourists go only to get laid and get high. It's ridiculous, and quite shameful, really.

Otherwise, be sure to check out the Van Gogh museum and enjoy some great beers. You can get some fantastic Belgians in Amsterdam for relatively cheap at any 'ol bar.

From when I went a few months ago, Amsterdamn is 5% about drugs, 10% about sex, and the rest is just really cool water canals.

There is a lot of history in that city, make sure to see the Anne Frank museum, and those other art musems that are there...very cool, and worth the time/money too,

I went during the winter, so it was great, short lines, pretty cheap, not crowded. You may have a totally different experience during the summer.

I would check the sites and maybe try some of their reefer. There are 1000 reasons I would love to check out Amsterdam, hookers is not one of them.

Work sent me for a few days (got back last night) and my wife went with me. We were in Arnhem most of the time and in Amsterdam for about 1.5 days. We enjoyed the canal rides, van gogh museum, the keukenhoff, and the floating flower market. My wife was able to explore more than I was. The countryside is just beautiful. For the most part, the food was great.

There were a few places we didnt make it to, but are on the list if we go back. The windmill museum, which I cannot remember the name, and there is a place where they built a miniature model city of Amsterdam.

Watch out for the pickpockets as they are everywhere. Oh and you will get tired of paying 3-4 Euros for 6 ounzes of soda/water/juice without refills. Try to learn a little bit of the language and it goes a very long way. Service at restaurants definitely improves if you fumble with a few dutch words, even though the majority of the people speak multiple languages.

I want to go to Amsterdam someday and enjoy the country side and then the nightlife. I'd love to hit up a few rave parties and be there alllll friggin' night. That pumps me up 😀
