Hi, i want to know if it is enough if i upgrade to 768MB of ram( i believe my motherboard can only handle 768mb) or 1gb if it can.?

or do i need to upgrade the entire system?

What OS should i use?

The system that will install AutoCAD is the one i use the most, so is WinXP capable of doing AutoCAD?

I wonder if i upgrade to P4-2.8, 512mb ram, 80gb, enough? and i still need a videocard. i want one that can still play games too.

thanks

your system is just fine for autocad, toss in some more ram and youre good to go. assuming youre not making huge drawings.

I'm actually running AutoCAD right now. Task Manager says CAD is taking 20mb of ram (only a small drawing though). The ram won't be a problem for CAD but it might be for games, think about the games you will run.

WinXP is capable of running AutoCAD; it's the OS I'm on right now.
CAD doesn't take much power when you only use 2D and I don't think video card has much effect. I don't exactly know how fast the computer is that I'm on since it's a school computer but I know it's a P4 and the video card is Intel Extreme and this computer doesn't lag at all.

Basically what I'm saying is that CAD will not bog your system. Buy parts based on what you want for gaming; CAD will not have any problem using those parts no matter how crappy they are.

oh cool thanks.

but these days people don't spend money on PC133 ram any more.

I may really think about getting a new system.

THanks guys!!
