Interior is plastic and horrific looking. Also, I would die with a 2 second fuel cut when pushing it. :( Outside the car looks nice though.

there is no 2 sec fuel cut. When the car just came out and was being reviewd for what ever reason if you made really aggressive redline shifts it went into protection mode and cut power for 3 sec, they now reflash everything that was in USA, and now come with the new flash which changes the cut off to .01 sec.

The Gen coupe is a nice car and its not to expensive. The interior actually is verry good. your the first person I heard to say that is bad. Look at it in person.

There is also the G37 coupe. or a 370. Which ever

Hopefully this weekend I might get a chance to test drive it...if Hyundai decides to send me an email for their show on Sunday.

I think you should something with a V8...my vote goes to the Camaro or the Mustang with the revised v8 coming next year. Both push upwards of 400 horsepower and each should easily accommodate 500hp without losing everyday drivability...

Oh man, don't even say that. I have been super spoiled since driving it. There's gotta be a coupe with similar power. I might test drive the 135 this weekend. I'll cam my test drive lol.

Otherwise wait for the new 1 series with the turbo'd 4 banger.

Audi's are much too expensive for what you're getting, a loaded A4 can approach $50K which is ridiculous.

Overall leasing is meh as I think you're discovering, I would encourage you to buy.

Mustang, Corvette

C6 Corvettes are getting pretty reasonable in the used car market. The C6 will blow away both the SRT8 and the EVO.

I am not a balding 50-something ;)
Corvettes always remind me of older guys who take Viagra.

+1.

Unless you want to muck about with turbocharging, the V6 is strongly recommended. Also, the interior of the base model is vastly inferior to that of a fully-spec'd Genesis - the leather really isn't bad.

The C5 corvette - and its' bigger brother, the C6 - have about as much to do with the old 'Vettes as a cherry bomb has to do with the payload of the Enola Gay. They're not perfect cars by any means, but they are scorchingly fast.

Another vote for the G37/370z. Wonderful cars.

How about an older 02 manual Trans Am or Camaro? Buy one and mod the piss out of it :)

G37 is ugly, mustang LOL unless you get a GT 500, only american car i would consider is the cts-v for 56k, anything else made in US is pretty much a POS, i say get the A5 with S package, S5 cost too much for the extra 30 hp you get. id say go use and get a RS4 and forget all these redneck recommendations, except for 2 or 3 american cars are POS.

I am looking for a lot of grunt in my next car.

Something American with a V8. Whatever you can fault domestics on, you really can't when it comes to a brutally powerful V8.

You say American is POS then recommend Audi that's known for it's horrible reliability?

lol yeah that's pretty funny. RS4 maintenance is even more ungodly $$ than the M cars, adding AWD and Turbo components to the mix. Not to mention RS4 is not available on B8 platform yet, still languishing on the old B7.

RS4 is brutally owned by Z06, which can be found for similar $$, and they are a lot cheaper to keep moving.

Mustang is not 'LOL' unless you get a GT500, FWIW the '03/'04 Cobras *very* mildly modded will destroy a GT500 on the street or track.

But yeah, whenever someone makes the comment that 'except for 2-3 cars' <insert entire region of the planet here> all of those cars suck, you can guarantee that person is both a troll and woefully uninformed.

The usual response to such idiocy is to point out how many 'imports' are made in the US, and oh, things like VW making cars in Mexico :)

"HP++++" .. well, if you want 500+whp, and you don't have a hundred grand to drop, there really is no better solution than getting a great V8-based product that has a great chassis / platform, and then take it to whatever extreme you want. You want a trackable car that can also do 9-second quarters? Build it.

Used CLK 430/500/550? Don't think you can get a manual with that though.

Camaro SS/mustang GT is the other obvious choice, the genesis coupe is ass ugly in person (I see them all the time around OC as Hyundai USA is based here)

For all of you suggesting japanese/korean/american cars, he's pretty obviously a euro fan boi. Had his V-dub for all this time and is of the mind zee German engineering ist number one.
So if money is not a big concern and it's European cars you're looking at what about a used Audi S4?

As I recall, he hasn't had that VW very long, maybe a year and a half or so. Was it a Civic before that?

I am a big fan of Euro cars, but I will not discount a nice Japanese coupe. American cars are not too much my style, since they always seem unusually big and bulky.

Also, I want a new car to take advantage of Geico's engine warranty. They will only offer this on new vehicles only.

Audi S5? M3? VW R32?

I think your options are pretty limited as far as eruo + coupe + big HP especially compared to the Evo MR and SRT8, those cars are waay different than a anything europe has to offer in a coupe version. Do you have a limit as far as budget goes?

I'd say G37 or C6.. but you've already decided against those.

IS-F? Not a coupe, but close?

Hmm, I'd agree in general, but there's something important to remember :

All specs from 'curb weight' listed on Edmunds, for the newest model available ('09s and '10s, except the Z4M, data only for the outgoing '08 model).

C6 Corvette Z06 : 3162lbs / 505hp
370Z : 3232lbs / 332hp
350Z : 3339lbs / 306hp
Genesis Coupe V6 : 3397lbs / 306hp
Genesis Coupe i4T : 3362lbs / 210hp
BMW M3 Coupe : 3704lbs / 414hp
BMW M3 Sedan : 3726lbs / 414hp
BMW Z4M : 3230lbs / 330hp
BMW M5 : 4012lbs / 500hp
Mustang GT Coupe : 3401lbs / 315hp
Mustang GT500 : 3924lbs / 540hp
Audi A4 2.0T : 3527lbs / 211hp
Audi A4 3.2 : 3827lbs / 265hp
Audi S5 : 4067lbs / 354hp
Audi S6 : 4486lbs / 435hp
MazdaSpeed3 : 3245lbs / 263hp
CTS-V : 4222lbs / 556hp
G37S Coupe : 3662lbs / 330hp
Dodge Challenger SRT8 : 4140lbs / 425hp
Chevy Camaro 2SS : 3860lbs / 426hp
Porsche 911 Turbo : 3494lbs / 480hp
Porsche Cayman S : 2976lbs / 320hp

^^^

A *LOT* of import cars, including pretty much anything from Audi sans the R8, are shockingly overweight.

Winners on this list IMHO : Cayman, Vette, 370Z, Speed3, CTS-V (compare it to the S6 for example, more weight / less power for the Audi).

Losers on this list : Challenger, GT500, Camaro, and to a certain extent, the M3. For 2-door performance cars to be that freakishly heavy, it's just a crying shame. Vette and 370Z handily prove that you can deliver brutal performance in something that doesn't tip the scales at ~2 tons.

Weight means more stress on the tires, more stress on the brakes, more stress on the suspension, and more for all of the systems to deal with when trying to shift that weight back and forth around curves. All other things equal, excess weight is bad.

The whole point of this is to show that it's not just domestics that are portly, the imports seem about equally heavy on average, unless you're comparing completely unequal cars. Look vehicle for vehicle, and stop thinking of things in purely regional terms. A Vette and a Challenger have about as much in common with each other as a 911 Turbo and a Golf do.

Didn't you just say you live in the ghetto? Not sure that's the best car type for where you live.

saw an s5 in person and god damn did it look good.

im a vette fan, so i have to vote for that too, but it really isn't practical enough for all year driving unless you live in an area where the weather isn't too bad all year (like texas)
