The 7870 is a great card. Just be careful choosing one, as some are over 9.7" long.

Also, just to reiterate, this card is a good investment for the future, but with your current CPU you will not see the performance you may have seen in reviews. If you don't have serious plans to upgrade, I think the 7850 is probably the better value.

In a year or so, I may use this card in a new system but that is not certain. Comparing the cheapest 7850 2GB with the cheapest 7870 is a $45 difference. If that difference allows me to keep the 7870 a year longer than the 7850 2GB then it might be worth it. But of course, it is hard to measure such things. Since I don't upgrade too often, I might as well get something that will provide more power for the longer run. Thanks again.

Just ordered the Sapphire Radeon 7870. Thank you all very much for the help. I believe this looks like a decent card. I've been without a graphics card for 2 1/2 years so might as well get a good one :D. Here is the link:

That's the card I have. I bought it because it's so compact and was the fastest card I could fit in my HTPC case. It's been great, but be aware, the card I have, which is an earlier spin of the card you ordered, had terrible reviews on Newegg. Lots of talk of dead cards. I'd like to think all those folks were just clueless, but it was too many to be that. So don't cut the box for the rebate until you've thoroughly tested it, otherwise you won't be able to return it.
