O.k. so i want to format my hd and re-install windows xp home ed, and so far it's done nothing but give me a head ache. Do i need a boot disk? been having problems making one. 😛 can't i just use the xp disk that i got? i also want to format my comp and i just went to a cmd.exe and typed format c: after i agreed it told me that the volume is in use by another process...then it asks me to dismount it. and it says cannot lock the drive. ???. sumbody please help.....

Go ahead and boot from your WinXP CD-ROM itself to begin Windows Setup, and Windows Setup will let you delete the existing partitions (if desired), create new partitions, and format the partitions. Holler if it gives you trouble 🙂
