Want to compile C++ code to test stability of OC'd CPU

I am running a K6-2+ 500 CPU at 5.5x100 in a Tyan S1598C2 motherboard, using Win NT 4.0 Workstation SP6a. What I'd like to do is compile a large source code under either (or both) Microsoft C++ 6.0 and Microsoft VB 6.0. The reason I'd like to do this is that I'm going to be taking some programming classes and I'd like to know if my OC'd rig will compile correctly under these two languages.

Anyone know of any large freeware source code pages where I could test my system. Downloading won't be a problem since I'm using an Ethernet connection to the Net/E-mail.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply br0wn!

How do I go about doing that? Do I just find some Linux site and they have things to compile? Take it easy on me, I've never programmed before or used Linux.

Thanks again!

Linux needs to be installed first, unfortunately. If you're looking just to test an OC'ed CPU, then going to that much trouble probably isn't worth it. The reason a Linux kernel compile is such a good test is because it's both memory and CPU intensive. So not only does it take the CPU to the max, it also uncovers any problems with running RAM at oddball overclocked bus speeds.

So there's no like big 25MB source code of some program on the net I could DL and compile. That way, if it compiled correctly, I'd know it because the program would work.

There's nothing like that out there? :(

Thanks for the reply though!
