Remember Jim Croce? He was a very minor star until his plane crash, then he (more correctly, his estate) sold millions and millions of records. Of course, unless your Jimi Hendrix it becomes increasing dificult to release new material after your death.

Of course the worst was the death of princess di. When she died some pathetic people said the world would never be the same. People who had never met her were balling their eyes out at this woman who had been given a bunch of money and spent her time doing charity work because she essentially had nothing better to do. It's a shame, but world shaking? Good god.

Absolutely true. Elvis is another good example. He'd just be some old fart singing in a smoky room at the Las Vegas Hilton right now if he hadn't kicked the bucket so early. But, of course, he overdosed, and now he's a "legend".

I think another prime example would be The Doors. I think at best they maybe had 1 good album, maybe another decent one, but then blah. I think the only reason we still hear about them is because Jim died like he did, and his death is still somewhat mysterious. Same with Nirvana. Then even farther back there is Robert Johnson. If he hadnt died and rumors swirled about that he sold his soul to the devil for musical prowess would anyone ever haved dusted off the 30 or so track he recorded? Aaliyah is another one, at best while she was alive I maybe heard of here a few times, now you hear alot about here. Whats that have to do with?
