There are a couple of amazing new tools that have recently been made available that can help you, the motorist, keep from getting pulled over by the men in blue!

They include:

THE SPEED SIGN: These come up about once every half mile on most roadways in the US, and should easily be readable with any standard set of headlights and functioning eyeballs. For those blind people out there, you get a free pass on this!

THE SPEEDOMETER: Most automobiles made after... ever have one of these amazing contraptions, that will tell you exactly how fast you're going on the road; for those brits and canucks among us, most modern autos even have your speed in kilometers-per-hour. Pretty nifty, eh?

Got that, folks? With these brand-spanking-new tools, you should have no problem telling those coppers to ah heck off, before they even pull you over!

Enjoy!

It's important to know! Besides, everyone seems so surprised and perplexed when they get pulled over, I figure this stuff must be unknown to the majority of the population.

I assure you, you have one! Now you may be young, or stupid, or both, but even YOU will have one.

While usefull for the noobies, isn't it better to simply prepay your tickets by making a donation for you and your spouse to the CHP 9-11 Foundation? For about $3000 you can get a lifetime membership for the both of you.

2003 Convertible Corvette $56,000
CHP 9-11 Foundation membership $3000
Passing a CHIP cruiser doing 90 and getting a wave, priceless ;)

Ever hear of speed traps? Ever been to a road that the speed limit suddendly drops for no other reasons than to trap unfamiliar drivers (ie out of towners)?

I have an unusual speedometer on my motorcycle. It's hooked up in reverse. Starts at about 220 mph while not moving, and goes down as you speed up. Every now and again I take it out to see how "slow" I can go :p

Heh. The speedometer on the car doesn't really work in the cold until it's warmed up. Of course, the odometer also lies. I'd guess there's probably 10,000 miles unaccounted for on the car (it reads 152,000ish).

what about parking tickets? those are my big problem...

I got a ticket a few weeks ago for parking between two meters, and correctly at neither one. the problem is that when I get into work, the street is pretty crowded, and i take whatever space I can get. when I come out of work (especially at 8 am on a Saturday morning) and the street is empty, it looks like I purposefully hogged up two spaces. grr.

what sucks the most is that once I punch in at night, I can't leave till my replacements have come. we're required to have the office staffed 24/7; if a major server went down and stayed down for 10 minutes because I was outside moving my car, I'd be fired on the spot.

but I guess a $40 ticket once in awhile is livable. it's still cheaper than parking in the $20/day parking lot.

My only problem with speed signs and the speedometer is that drivers then have to think outside of the conversation they're having on their cell phone, concentrate on something else besides their hair and makeup in the vanity mirror, and actually utilize a portion of that stuff that fills the space between their ears. I'm sorry but I don't think this technology will catch on with the mass public.

I just show up on my court date, and they have alway reduced the ticket to not be an insurance issue.

Want to avoid getting mocked?

Stop acting like you're perfect and never do wrong.

BTW, I doubt that high horse can go over the speed limit anyways. :p
