My gut says they have jumped the gun 2 weeks at least and we should be able to buy them by June 14th or so....

I think all in all great news for us and not so great news for INtel and their lack of a 2.8ghz model they taunted in their artciles...Without that one who in their right mind can even justify a P4 system based on price or price/performance....

I really think AMD said FX57, 4200+ "you are gonna wait"..."we are not going to let Intel launch without us being there"...smart marketing move they must be listening to us in the forums 😉 .....

So it looks like there vendor didn't come through.....Changed all of the ETAs to 6/30 now....Many of us expected this being as this site is not one of AMD regulars distributors who gets newer chips.....Being it is May31st now the date they initially said they would have it I hope Monarch will have them around the mid June time that has been speculated there....

Monarch Computers have started taking preorders for all X2 chips. The site also states that the chips will start shipping June 16th. The only downside is the price.

4200+ $579
4400+ $619
4600+ $822
4800+ $999

As you all can see the retail price is significantly higher on the 4200+, 4400+, and 4600+ MSRP but the 4800+ is $2, not like that makes much of a difference for a $1000 anyway.

The price gouging is expected. But I'm pretty sure they'll start falling over the next couple of weeks as other sites get their inventories.

ZZF is charging an arm and a leg for the Pentium D 820. Gotta pay a premium if you want to be the first kid on the block with the new toy.

That nice fact if even a preorder is the fact they are selling right at reported prices which means some of the larger volume dealers may be a hair lower.....I doubt these guys would be at the bottom. I also kinda question the fact that if a bucnh of no name companies are going to be getting them then maybe volume is going to pick up...with FX57 delay, possibly cancelling the 4200+ single core due to product confusion then maybe all efforts were focused on getting X2s and opterons to market...

Pure speculation all around...
Sure would be sweet, maybe AMD realized how dominating their dualcores have been and are focusing to get them out ASAP to make sure they've got the clear flagship leader all around considering the FX55 has remained pretty much unchallenged with no official 4GHz or higher P4 part.

yeah... price for 1000-quantity is:

4200+ $537
4400+ $581
4600+ $803
4800+ $1001

Some price adjust during this month, and we'll have similar prices in retail (specially for 4200+ and 4400+ parts, because 4600+ is very close and 4800+ is even $2 slower right now)...

so does tankguys.com

Tankguys linky

They are pretty new to the game, but as I mentioned in another thread, I've dealt with them and they are really good.

Between that, and the links to monarch (also a really good company, but I still think they are bit high in prices typically) and the sparco (good company too) link, you can find them for pretty good deals.

I'd stay away from memoryexpousa... they are a yahoo! store. how many decent merchants would bother using a Yahoo! store instead of just making thier own site with a decent shopping cart software???

I talked to Joe already, he told me AMD reps told him June.

Yes, we're shooting for the June date listed on our site currently.

That's good to hear... I have to wonder, since you guys seemed to be one of the very first the last time around with Venice and San Diego, if the other sites who are claiming ETA of the 7th (over a week before the 16th) are really going to get theirs then or not. I'm hoping that if they do, that you do as well. 🙂
