I wouldn't take one if you gave it to me.

Well, maybe if you gave it to me and I knew (absolutely) that someone would give me $25k for it. ;) Then I could sell it and buy a few 87-89 mustang 5.0s and build some real drag cars.. ;)

PASS. :disgust:

Those bastards in Europe can get them for cheap, too :(
Would you believe that the retail price of a Civic Type-R in the UK (the country where they are built) works out at over $27K.
We get such a raw deal on cars it's unbelievable. :(

I forget where I was, but I was pulling out someplace and the car in front of me was a navy blue honda civic...but it had an Acura emblem (front and rear), had a Type-R emblem on the back, and said something like 'GL' (basically tried to name the car like Acura would...), oh, and we must not forget the chrome tipped, slightly oversized muffler. However, it was actually tastefully done if that is possible when remarking a car. It looked stupid to me, but some people probably thought it looked decent. Oh yeah, and it was a middle aged man and his middle aged wife driving it...weird.

The EL is based off the Civic and is sold in Canada.

ignorant bastard. You think that a Civic Type R handles as well as a Porsche? A stock Mustang could probably beat a stock regular Civic in the twisties any day of the week. Civic Type R = stock Civic with new shocks/springs/struts/anti-sway bars. You could add that onto a Mustang and beat the Civic anyway you want to. God it makes me so mad when you think just because it's domestic that some econobox could beat it. Please.

I'm a fan of both but when it comes to a twisty windy ass road... I'd take a Civic over a stang anyday... While they corner a lot better now than they did in the 60's they still corner like crap. And besides a stock GT stang can barely run a 14-15 in the 1/4 the cobra can barely run a 13. Some of those Jap cars that are built also can do just as good as that. And pass them while those V8's are sitting at the gas station filling up cause they only get 10 mpg. Don't get me wrong i love the torque that V8's have. I have a 350 HP Pontiac 389 in my old chevy truck = tire smoking SOB.

I saw two or three of them when I was in Toronto during October...lucky kids in Markham have all the nicest new cars. (Not saying that the Civic is the nicest)

Looks nice tho

This car cost me $12K. It beats the Civic up down and sideways in every category including passenger room. It even has an extended warranty.

Why do people go looking for overpriced rice burners and buy them new?

PEOPLE - BUY USED CARS!

A brand new mustang GT will run 14 flat or even high 13s with a good driver in the 1/4 mile. A brand new cobra will run mid 12s. The Mustang Cobra R pulls 1.00g on the skidpad, which is higher than msot anything else out there, definitely a civic.

Yep. A new f-body runs at least as fast as a GT if not a bit faster. And has the handling to match - it could out-handle a Civic with ease. There is simply no production car in the world that offers the price/performance ratio that a Mustang or f-body does. Even imports that cost much more still don't have the same performance or handling.

For that price.. you could buy a Civic SI for like $16k-17k, sell the motor, put in the RSX Type-S motor, upgrade the handling to something better, etc.. but I'd rather have a WRX or drop a few more grand and get a 350Z. ;)

Meh...if I was looking at a $24.3k RSX and a $25k Civic different only in sheet metal, I might get the latter just for the novelty

But then again, novelty wears off and so I'm with MWilding since there's a whole lot of used cars at or under $25k that are better
