Frame pump would be nice, but I haven't seen any with gauges. Any kind is really fine, but best bang for the buck is what I'm looking for ;) Ideally, I would like a frame pump (so I can carry it around all the time on my bike) with a pressure gauge that is relatively inexpensive and not a piece of crap ;)

Hmmm. My favorite frame pump is the tried and true Zefal HPX. Heavier than mini-pumps, but inflates to high pressure without 1,000,000 strokes and subsequent tendonitis in your elbow.

This looked like a decent pump if you need to have a guage. 158 stokes to 85psi isn't too terrible, I guess. The T-handle is a nice touch.

I have never really seen the need for a guage on a frame pump since all you really want to do is put a bunch of air in the tire as fast as possible so you can get home. As long as you can get enough air in to where you won't pinch flat, you're in good shape. Since the upper limit of most pumps is 120ish psi, I just go until I can't get much more air in easily and consider it enough.

I just purchased a pump that was on clearance at REI for $17.99. I forget the model/brand but it is a frame pump size with an aluminum body. However, the coolest part of this pump is that it can be used in 1 of 3 ways:

1.) Frame Pump (self explanatory)
2.) Foot Pump (turn it upside down and flip the lever down and it can stand on the floor and turn the head to unlock it and a short extension hose comes out)
3.) CO2 Pump - this is by far the coolest part. By simply unscrewing the inflation head, you can screw it on top of a mini CO2 cartridge like those used in paintball guns.

At home when my tires just need a little bit of air I use it as a foot pump. If I'm going on a real long trip I attach it to the frame. If I'm just going bombing down some hills locally, I carry the inflation head and 2 mini CO2 cartridges in my saddle bag and add very little additional weight.

Oh yeah, and not that it matters, but the bike is a 2001 KHS FXT Pro :D

IMO, you don't need a guage. You can quickly learn what the appropriate pressure feels like when you squeeze the tube with your thumb.

Zefal makes good stuff.

I still use a Zephyl that is 15 years old, and my wife has a zyphely that collapses to about 9 inches on her mountain bike.
Though the short one takes more pumps to get the right psi.

Agreed - unfortunately fewer and fewer bikes (even larger road frames) have pump pegs. I am going to have one welded onto my VaMoots one of these days.

In terms of floor pumps, I strongly favor the tried-and-true Silca Track Pump, whose simplicity and effectiveness have yet to be surpassed IMO.

I got curious and went and looked at my pump... Its a Zepal HPX 4. Its done very well over the last 15 years.

Personally I use a foot pump at the house with a regular tire pressure gauge and for keeping on the bike I have this.
Are we talking for a mountain bike or a road bike?

Yup, they are indestructable. The only reason I'm on my second one in 12 years of riding is that I had to whack an overly-agressive dog in the head with the first one while riding in north GA years back. Bent the barrel of the pump, but did a good job of discouraging the damn dog. :D
