i agree Glad no one hurt!
I agree. But if you notice the silver shell around the engine. That's a blast guard to protect against exactly what you saw there. Should the engine fly apart for any reason, the blast guard is supposed to obsorb the entire blast to protect the audience and track officials. The ones on that tractor look like they did their job, even if it did end up nearly cutting one of the guards in two.
My bet is that he took something into the engine during the run and threw a fin. Either that or one of his bearings seized. But considering the delay between loss of power (sudden drop of the nose) and the actual explosion, I'm thinking more likely that he took something into the engine he shouldn't have and at 10k+ RPM's, that probubly ripped the guts out of that engine in record time. The second one would have gone as a result of the first one dying because the first one would have seized the drive shaft and since both were slaved direct drive to the main driveshaft, that would have caused the 2nd engine (which explodes a split second after the first) to come to an instant halt probubly twisting the turbine shaft in half and throwing the fans all over the place.
Guarenteed even if the first one simply failed the 2nd one (the one cut in half) got it worse even though it got wrecked via colateral damage.
