Update: If you have a Facebook account, go to this page, and press "Like" so they'll make an announcement sooner. The more people, the merrier.

Then show some support for Namco Bandai + From Software to make a PC port, and sign this petition.

http://petitionbureau.org/DarkSoulsForPC

Just this past weekend, there was a forum thread on the publisher's forums asking about a PC version of the game. One of the Namco Bandai staff came into the thread and hinted at the possibility of actually making it happen if there's enough support.

There is always possibilities to have games adapted on PC and the good news is that Dark Souls is not a 100% typical Console game so the adaptation is possible.

Now to make things happen, let's say the demand has to be properly done. someone to make a successful petition?

Honestly, I think this is an interesting request and that it deserves to be pushed.
Namco have no position for now on this topic: PC versions are considered for many games but as PC is rarely the lead platform for the games released by the company, making PC version very often depends on signs that could come from users or from market globally.

Over the course of two days, gaming websites have absolutely exploded, and the petition has surpassed 50,000 signatures. I'm surprised there hasn't been anything posted here on the PC gaming forum yet. If you have any interest at all of playing Dark Souls on PC, then show your support, sign the petition, and let the developers know. This is one of the few console-exclusive titles that could really take off on PC.

UPDATE: Guys... it might actually be happening.

TotalHalibut did a video on this, which is probably where most of the sigs came from. The video has almost 500K views.

Now, would this PC version have quicksaves?

Ah yes. TB always manages to make very logical, well-thought-out arguments. Here's the video in question, it's definitely worth a watch.

That's a pretty controversial question, considering the number of PC gamers who are insistent on having quicksave in their games. IMO, this would unfortunately remove a lot of the challenge from Dark souls. Mashing F5 over and over during gameplay would basically eliminate any consequences of dying, which is part of the appeal.

Signed, this game and the first would be so much better with a mouse and keyboard.

i always wondered if any online petitions ever actually became a deciding factor?

Not usually, but it's worth a try, isn't it?

And this isn't the same as badgering Rockstar for a PC port of Red Dead Redemption, where they've basically already said "SORRY GUYS, WE CAN'T PORT IT, NO MEANS NO." In this case, people from Namco Bandai themselves have actively encouraged it right there on their own website, saying "it deserves to be pushed". He even directly stated that a successful petition could get them to do it. It looks like there is actually a possibility of making it happen.

I took a quick look at Wikipedia and it says there is minimal story? I read just enough of the plot section to see something about undead becoming Hollows...this isn't something to do with Bleach, is it?

It may be controversial for players, but it wouldn't be for From Software. They had absolutely no problem completely removing the pause feature - even in offline mode.

The plot can be summarized: Ride on Bird, Ring two bells, talk to the Godess of tits, kill 4 big ugly dudes for their souls, set their souls on fire, Kill lord of Fire. It's not exactly a plot driven game.

I don't think this game would work as well on the PC, seems very console based. I own both Demons and Dark Souls on PS3, excellent games.

But why would they release Dark Souls and not Demon's Souls?

Oh and by the way... I played Demon's Souls on the PS3 and it was a horrible experience that made me give up and sell the PS3. Not becuase the game was bad, but because I couldnt play it with this damn controller... In fact I just dont get how someone can use one of these things coming from keyboard/mouse. These thumbsticks are just... retarded.. A friend told me that I will get used to it, but I tried again and again for two weeks and I couldnt even get my character to attack in the direction I wanted him too. I cant even begin to say how frustrating that is...

That's too bad man. I'm not that great with the controller either but got used to it so I could play Demon's Souls. Especially since it was the reason I bought a PS3 in the first place. :)

There are adapters that will allow you to use a KB/M with the PS3 but they're pricy and a bit hard to setup. I tried it with the original XIM when that was released and it worked ok, but really, it's better to just suck it up and get used to the controller IMHO.

Demon's Souls was published by Sony, who forced them to make it PS3-exclusive. Dark Souls, on the other hand, was published by Namco which is why they were able to put it on both PS3 and 360.

My roommates and friends love Dark Souls. While I do have a PS3, the performance issues I've seen when my roomies play it turn me off. Thankfully a powerhouse PC can mitigate that issue :awe:

Good, fun, and rewarding game. I found Demons Souls to be better but Dark Souls was still good. I'd buy it again if it came out on the PC. It has solid game play and excellent level design. My only complaints were (besides performance) was how they didn't tell you shit, either in game or in the manual (which basically just tells you how to insert a disc into your PS3). It was a bit frustrating at the beginning just figuring out what some crap did.

If they port this to PC, as people want, I guarantee within 24 hours of release someone will post here that the game sucks because "it's a shitty console port".

You did know you can lock onto targets and your character will auto-orient to hit them, right?

I have to admit, I looked at gameplay footage and fail to see how this game is any different than the 20 other games just like it on consoles and pc's already...

Well, yes.... I did know that, but I couldn't lock targets fast enough, and couldn't tell which targets I was locked onto. I dont know... I thought using those controllers was supposed to be easier than playing on the PC, but in fact, it's not easy for me at all. And I still dont get how people play FPS shooters with those things.
