My buddy works at petsmart and says the grooming manager makes over a 100k/yr and the turnover rate is high because they keep going to open up their own grooming shops. All I can say is wow, I never knew cutting puts hair could be so lucrative.

would the manager just supervise, or would he have to groom too?

I find it hard to believe that all grooming managers make $100k. Maybe over a long period of time and with promotions. Although if it is indeed true, I need to change careers.

it's probably most of the big name stores like petsmart or petco that make tons of money.
It's like $30+ for a groom and can become really easy if the animals behave. 15 min to give a groom and boom, you made $30+.

my wife is a groomer, some pets are so bad they have to be sedated before she can work on them. mostly these are pets that arent groomed regularly, large dogs (more because theyre difficult to handle due to size then temperament) and cats, which appearently hate sharp metal things. One dog gave such a fit to her today that it got tired and *passed out*
she works about 20 hours a week, and on a meh commission since shes only done this for about a year and a half. i would believe someone experienced and in a location where they could charge a bit more than her could make 50k a year if they worked it full time, but youd have to go at it nonstop to make 100k/yr unless you were raping on prices.
depending on the dog she'll spend from 45 minutes to 2 hours. poodles (with alot of the detail to do) and dogs that arent groomed regularly(which are matted and filthy) are the worst, small or medium dogs that are groomed regularly dont take too long.
