Very nice. I was looking for some info on the R2 steel the other day and saw that someone was saying SG2 is essentially just a powdered version of VG10. Not sure if that's true or not.

Well the VG10 knife I have was hardened to 59 HRC whereas this Miyabi SG2 was hardened to 63 HRC so I would think there should be a noticeable difference in edge retention between the two.

I have a friend who does blacksmithing as a hobby, I've always thought this was pretty cool, but like programming, I would hate to have to do it as a profession.

I'd love to do blacksmithing as a profession, but I'm getting a little old now to learn new things, or at least learn things that require a large outlay of money for esoteric tools. I'm also not much interested in farrier work which is the bread & butter of smithing anymore.
