Cronkite had the class and decency to hold out until after He Who Shall Not Be Named. Lets give him his props for wartime service, service to the United States of America in general and certainly, his journalism. He was a superb journalist.

I think one of the coolest things about Walter Cronkite was that he had a publicly listed phone number. One of the local radio stations called him once and he was willing to just chat for a couple of minutes.
He truly lived a full life and will be missed.

IMO, this is much more important than the death of MJ.
Cronkite was quite possibly the most respected anchor in television news...ever.
Gawd, I remember him on the news back into the early 60's, reporting on Kennedy's assassination, The Cold War, and the Vietnam War...as well as numerous space launches during the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo programs.
If Cronkite said it, you KNEW it was the truth. No spin, no hedging, no favoritism, just the unbridled truth...

This is unquestionably more important than the death of MJ. But you know MJ .... grabbed his crotch and stuff.
Face it the really important things in this world like factual news, truth, freedom, and integrity are boring. The death of an entertainer (and really I'm not trying to belittle MJ he was hugely talented) will always outshine the death of someone who stood for something.
