Everyone just chilled out in the store until it was time
This wasnt for one particular item that was being released on a specific date.
This is for big sales on everything in the store.

Stuff which can still be found cheaper online any time of the year.
People who line up outside stores 12 hours in advance are DUMB, plain and simple. And all it takes is a handful of hostile assholes to turn an ordinary day into a tragedy.

Fuck black friday. It's a game for suckers and you fools who wait in line...and now have killed people for it...are sucking it up like equally worthless Dysons.

Woo Hoo!!! I saved $100 or $200 on some electronic device that will be worth half what I paid for it in 6 months. I was 6 weeks ahead of some invisible curve for a few hours and bragged about it on teh intarweb.

Yeah, you fucking rule. :frown:

Its funny that people would rush for an item thats easily found in most stores.
The 360 is the most widely available of the current console generation.

Haha, I was waiting in the Xbox pile this morning. It looked exactly like that, I mean...exactly. After I got mine (I was out first because I threw dem elbows) I stopped to watch the rest of the idiots fight for a second, before I sprinted to the register, lol.

Found a video of the outside of the incident on youtube. I won't post it because I find it disgusting - I'm sure you can find it if you want it. Condolences to the family for this. . .

I don't get it, what's so special about Black Friday that makes people go all insane?

I'm guessing it's the same everywhere else, but here our Walmart is open 24/7 so that opens up other opportunities to go shopping. So you save a bit that night, big deal, I rather pay a bit more and go when it's less crowded. Time = money. If it takes me an hour more to do my shopping then to me it's not worth it.

Really sucks that people actually get harmed/killed over other people's retardedness over material things.

But, but, but... shopping is PATRIOTIC.

Seriously, this is just a symptom of moral depravity running rampant.
"Moral depravity" is probably something else that every generation claims is a "new" problem.
I don't think anybody here has claimed it's new; I certainly didn't. The only difference between these people and a throng of red-assed baboons howling in delight as a couple of males duke it out is the clothing.
"Moral depravity" is a term that is to me a buzzword that TV pundits like to throw around in order to make themselves seem morally superior, and thus get more viewers. And of course, such things find their way into popular lingo, where the context may or may not be preserved.

But, on the subject,
"What we are is semi-civilized beasts, with baseball caps and semi-automatic weapons."

This is yet another example of the season being taken completly out of context by an overly consumer driven nation. I was also irked by the ridiculously large light shows put on by my city's government downtown. With a nation in an energy crisis, they have the gumption to use enough energy to light several homes for a year. Ha! Money that will be spent paying the electric bill for this would have been better used as a donation to needy families.

Heh. Headlines are saying, "KillMart".

I think it's time to stop all the Black Friday bs. People are too stupid to control themselves.

If Walmart had handled the sale better, no one would have been killed. They should have hired cops, roped off lines, had more people to control opening, etc...

yeah...i was at BF 2 years ago @ BB. I just wanted that $179 camcorder. I waited 12 hours and was 10th in line. Guy comes out to hand tickets...he gets mobbed. everyone in the front was now atleast 40th in line. Everyone is pushing and shoving. WTF, man....they are pushing and shoving and screaming like they just saw God. Some guy literally shoves my gf against the wall to get closer and almost knocks her over(yeah, the wall prevented her from falling). I was about to kill that guy until a BB employee pulled the dude out of the line. We did end up with the camcorder.....but it sucked balls. Never again will I go to BB for BF.

I dunno; how many other Walmarts had this problem? The problem lies with the people who acted like animals at a zoo on stampede.

All Walmarts have this problem.

We used to make the new guy open the door on Black Friday. One year it was this retired school teacher guy. He actually tried greeting the mob! "Hello, welcome to ABC. What brings......." He was literally pushed back like 50 feet by the tidal wave of human waste.

Then we figured out that if you went outside with coffee and hot cocoa, you could reason with the mob. You made sure the first 50 or so people in line were nice and buttered up. "Would you like some more hot cocoa? It sure is chilly out here. Now just remember, I am the guy opening the doors. I have a family, so please don't trample me." That actually worked really well. The first people would help keep the mob in order. If someone cut in line, they got tossed to the back of the line. They would also police the people who would wait in their cars until the doors open. Every year there would be a ton of people who would try to rush the doors and bypass the line. The people who we had been buttering up would take it personal and they knew we were on their side.

Walmart's problem is they don't care about their customers or employees. All it takes is a little planning and some genuine care about the people that earned first pickings.

I think they should have opened fire on the crowd as it entered walmart. Coral those running away into a killpen and finish them off, rid society of some scoundrels.
