Walmart...why do we keep doing this to ourselves?

Been in various WalMarts in several states. Some are fairly grimy, some are fairly nice.

For instance, on Cape Cod....Falmouth's WalMart is grimy, crowded, unpleasant. The WalMart in Wareham is just the opposite...well lit, clean, nice employees, decent shopping experience.

We have an Ingles grocery about 1 min. from our house and a Bi-Lo about 3 min. away. We shop them when we have to....but will drive the 15 miles to the WalMart in Greenwood, SC, for most of our "routine" crap shopping. Prices are just too good to pass up. Paper towels are paper towels, soap is soap, etc. Why pay more when you don't have to.

Granted, I won't set foot in most any WalMart during the afternoon/evening....too crowded and not enough registers. But since most are 24/7, going at 5AM cuts the crowds out and makes it bearable.

Idea.

Ask giver how long ago they bought. If within ok time frame...
Open box
Put a cosmetic crack in it.
Take back to giver ask them to exchange and generate a gift receipt.

Now you have a unit w/reciept and you can return it yourself and didn't insult giver.

Check policy as gift receipt may only get you store credit.

I'll go to the Walmart Neighborhood Market down the street sometimes when I really don't feel like driving much further to Tom Thumb, but I pretty much never dare to set foot in one of the Supercenters. Can't fucking stand the employees, most of the shoppers, and the typical cart dodging involved with parking.

<snip>
And yes, I mad, bro. I've never had a single dealing with these fucksticks that wasn't objectionable. And there's hardly any other local option even out there for some items. I'm determined to fight my laziness, though...I'll drive an hour for a $5 item if it keeps me out of there.
Anything that makes your day worse is a good day. Douche...

Weird, it's almost as if you're making requests that clearly go against the company policies that they have in place.

🙄

Weird, it's almost as if you also can't read.

Note how easy it is to pick out the more intelligent people in the thread. They might say 'dude, get the fuck over it,' and that's cool.

But the 'tards say 'LOL YOU HAD NO RECEIPT DUMBASS' because they have extremely poor reading comprehension and/or lack the ability to make simple logical connections. I explained why it aggravated me (ignoring the 'straw that broke the camels back' bit of it: I looked at their policy to check before going. Confirmed it had not changed during the time I was out.)

I bet you were frothing at the mouth typing that up

I just fricking hate WalMart. They are representative of everything that is wrong with the utterly moronic viewpoint of exporting our manufacturing.

I work hard for my money. Sue me if I want to keep as much of it as possible and pay low prices for stuff I buy.

Oh come on, don't be such a grouch. It's not my favorite place to shop, it's weird, but so are most stores. The worst AFAIC is Safeway. They drive me crazy these days. Now, the closest Walmart to me is 8.4 miles, and I don't normally go that way, so I visit quite infrequently. I drove to one a week ago and bought a battery for my car, probably not a good idea. It so happens that they have the best deal on non fat dry milk, much better than Costco and if I order several boxes at a time it comes free shipping. When I was there last week I walked around looking for non fat dry milk, couldn't find it. Asked a worker where it was and she had zero comprehension of English. "No comprendo," I said? Another worker had no idea. I decided it was online only maybe. Walked all over looking for a winter jacket (I'm wearing one now I bought at a Walmart 5 years ago, it's my absolute favorite and it cost me $15! This time, though, I couldn't find anything resembling a practical winter jacket, WTF.

I can totally empathize with this attitude. I did develop a career in computer database programming, and that was cool. But before that, for many years all I could get was shit jobs and 1/2 the time they sucked so bad, I hated them so much I couldn't stand to spend the money I made, meager as it was. Very little in the stores looked to be worth the trouble I had making the money. As a result I was very very frugal, just the necessities, I saved the rest. Once in a while I'd buy some item to treat myself, such as my first VCR, top of the line. A decent 20" TV. Not a lot else.
