I went to target over the weekend, and it was like i was visiting heaven. Why don't they have a target closer to my home? :(

Anyway, target vs. walmart:

1) Target doesn't smell like an old people and broccoli. Walmart does.

2) Target is actually clean and organized. Walmart looks like a hurricane hit it.

3) Target has nice merchandise. Walmart's merchandise looks like crap.

4) The shoppers at target look like normal people. The shoppers at walmart look like they came out of a trailer park.

5) Target has nice bright lighting that makes me happy. The 'lighting' at walmart makes me feel like i'm in some siberian prison.

6) The aisles at Target are wide open, lots of space to walk around. The ailes at walmart are cramped.

7) Target has reasonable traffic. Walmart has just too many damn shoppers running over each other.

8) The salespeople at target are nice, friendly, and actually look happy to be working there. The salespeople at walmart look like they want a revolver to shoot themselves... and they're the most unfriendly people i've ever met.

Any other differences you've noticed between walmart and target?

Exactly. People who want a better shopping experience go to Target and pay a premium. I personally hate Wal-Mart.. just too many people. Target all the way.

This is why Wal-Mart is always busy.

But I totally agree with most every point you made.

I hate the people at Wal-Mart, so many white trash hicks there all the time with the kids running all over the place, drives me f'ing nuts.

The only problem that I have with target is that it's 3 miles from my house instead of 2 miles from my house for walmart. When I want to buy something cheap and quickly it's to Wally world I go, but that only happens maybe once every 2 or 3 months, if that frequently.

Amen brother. I refuse to step foot in Walmart unless I know exactly what I am going to buy and buying it from Walmart will save me a significant amount of money. There has to be at least a $50 difference in price for me to shop at Walmart. I shop at Target. To me, Im willing to pay extra for a product if it means that I dont have to walk into a warzone with a bunch of ghetto people running around. I cant stand walmart customers, their stores are unorganized and messy, you have to wait in the checkout line for 30 minutes, their self checkout never works, and their employees and incompetent.

I wont even buy my mother a walmart giftcard because I'd rather her not shop there.

Still acceptable? I thought not.

There isn't just a different shopping environment, Target actually carries higher quality goods.

I just either go to Walmart in the morning or night. Don't be a douche and go on Saturday afternoon.

The stuff I even consider buying from Target is also at Walmart, usually for a cheaper price, so the "Target carries higher quality stuff" argument doesn't apply to me.

Target doesn't employ underage workers and they give their of age workers proper break times and vacation.

Also another difference: Target stores have a big bullseye target on the buildings... Wal mart doesnt, but should in case of nuclear attack from a foreign country they might see this and attack it first.

A pack of Dial soap is a pack of Dial soap. A box of Frosted Flakes is a box of Frosted Flakes. Target is CONSISTENTLY higher-priced than Wal-Mart, so I shop at Wal-mart.

I don't give a crap about a "premium" shopping experience. I have better things to spend my money on instead wasting it by paying more for an item someplace else.

I walked into a 24-hour Wal-Mart early this morning and got a Christmas card, two boxes of chocolates and two DVDs. I was in and out in about 5 minutes (went through self checkout).

Why the hell would I go to Target to buy the EXACT same items for a higher price?

My family are in Target 2 times a week, it just feels cleaner and safer environment for the kids to wander around. Also the toys appear to be of better quality, its probably the same but they screened out the cheap junk that is found in Walmart.

We do sometimes go to walmart to grocery shop usually after 10pm (open 24 hours) when the usual croud is gone.

Agree with all the observations you made.

In my area, I could drive that extra mile to Target and still be home faster than if I went to Wal-Mart. The checkout lines at Wal-Mart in my area are not only long at any time of the day or night, but it seems every other customer has some problem that needs to be resolved at the checkout. I have never had a "quick" experience shopping at Wal-Mart. That's why I quit shopping there.

I shop at Target for many reasons, and your list includes several of them.

Target clearance deals are also pretty awesome.

One of my complaints about Walmart is that they seem to hire a lot of mentally disabled people (possibly to improve their image by making them look like they're helping those people out?) and put them on the cash registers even though they can't really handle using the register.

And in my experience, Target has a lot more cute girls working for them. Walmart employees all seem to be older and uglier. This is based on my limited experience with 3 or 4 of each store.

I'd pay an extra 30 cents for dish soap or whatever to not have to deal with that crap. If you're really so strapped for cash that you have to subject yourself to that to save 5 or 10 bucks total, then it's time to reevaluate your career options.

I agree with that. The bread company I work for, has me merchandising at our local Super Walmarts. There is just no organization. Some of our breads that should be right next to each other. you find some on one shelf, then other half, you find it like 4 shelfs over. another spot. it goes our product, our product, our product, someone else product, our product. They give one company a single shelf for one of their product between all of our product. it like wtf? Why not just put that single shelf of product with the rest of their product that only couple shelf over. Walmarts even found a way to screw up the hambuger buns and hotdog buns section.

I do have to admit though, our Super Walmarts does have a better electronics depatrtment (tv, dvd players, etc)for the most part compare our our local Meijers and Target. But our super walmarts dvd selection is not as good though.
