Most (if not virtually all) of the drugs on the Florida list are relatively inexpensive generics that have been on the market for years, anyway. I've never paid more than $10 ~ $20 for several of the drugs on the list - cash with no insurance.
That's not to suggest $4 isn't better than $10 ~ $20, I'll take cheaper whenever I can get it. But saving $11 ~ $16 on a prescription that is already available cheaply isn't really 'enhancing' anyone's standard of living, except for the lowest income households, most of whom would already qualify for some kind of discounted prescription, health insurance, or health care programs (private, public, or both).
I currently pay around $50 ~ $60 cash for 90 day supply of the drug I am prescribed (which is not on the list). There can, however, be a huge difference in the price of drugs from one pharmacy to the next. Some pharmacies charge 2.5 times more than I pay for the exact same drug and quantity. It only takes 30 minutes to call around and ask, most people don't. Some independent pharmacies and chains even have pricing online now.
