They really had to do something like this to try and take away some of Amazon's growth, but the benefits seems a little sparse for $98 a year.

Things like: Minimum order $35 required for the fast shipping, no music or video services. The Walmart locations in this area don't have their own gas station, so no additional savings for gas. As far as the "Scan and Go" feature in Walmart stores, I could see them discontinuing/altering that quickly as there is already a huge theft problem here, and I can only imagine it will increase by people paying on their phones.

Walmart is simply a corporate conglomerate of morons at this point. It's just like any other bloated corporation the likes of sears, GE, etc ...

They never innovate, and when a competitor catches up with them (and surpasses by a mile) they release worthless turds like this... $100 for 2 day shipping, 35$ min orders and... Basically nothing else.

Remember when they purchased Jet.com to try and get a 2 day shipping e-commerce? Failed miserably. Destroyed jet, and it now just redirects to Walmart.com lol.

Idiots. Complete idiots. There's a reason why I will never go to a Walmart, spend money at them, etc. Target is actually years ahead of Walmart as well at this point. They have lots of free shipping options for no cost.

Yeah, they pretty well killed Jet.com as soon as they bought it. I do get a fair amount from Walmart.com, and they already offered free 2-day delivery on orders above $35, so this new membership service doesn't do much for me, so I wouldn't personally get it.

Ever since this whole pandemic thing started, I actually started ordering from a lot more different retailers. Before covid19 hit, I would pretty much just buy anything I needed from Amazon. It wasn't until Amazon basically shutting off the ordering of products that they didn't deem "essential" that I began branching out. Now I try to order things like my toys from independent stores, and I at least shop around a lot more as well.

If I remember correctly, there was about a 2 month period where I didn't get anything from Amazon. All the Amazon Fresh deliveries were all booked, so basically I only used their Prime Video service during that time. I actually just received my annual Prime renewal date email notice is coming next month, so it seems like Amazon isn't giving existing Prime memberships any kind of extension for the period where you couldn't order (non-essential) stuff through them. So that kinda sucks IMO, as I figured they'd at least do something.

$98 a year for "free" shipping on same-day orders over $35? Wut?

I can't help but wonder who exactly is going to be getting this "service".

This seems like a joke, useful only to a narrow audience of large quantity buyers. As much as I dislike some things about Amazon, Prime is much more compelling.

On Prime shipping, though, that does seem a bit scammy. Sometimes it works as expected, but others have real delays and pretty clear markups. E.g., Amish popcorn 6 pounds is $10.49+shipping on the company website, and $14.99+'free' prime shipping.

But, but, but some guy in an Amazon commercial said they are going to be zero net carbon by 2040. He doesn't know how they will do it, and it's going to be tough, but he knows they will be able to do it. :p

I'd imagine that their plan has something to do with the electric vans, solar cells, and windmills that they have plastered all over the commercial. I doubt that Amazon actually owns those windmills, but I'm sure that their marketing department told them that higher income adults aged 18-45 like windmills. So, the commercial has a lot of em!

This is correct.

This seems like a Blockbuster too little too late kind of thing.

I cannot get in stock and sold by/shipped from food from Amazon in two business days. Last ordered something on Friday morning and they are telling me Thursday, by local Amazon Prime delivery agent. Good thing I wasn't starving.

The $35 min for free shipping has been dropped on items such as electronics, clothing, toys and other merchandise shipped through Walmart's fulfillment centers; There is still a minimum for delivered grocery orders.

I don't think Walmart+ will take off either.

Use to have the old Walmart plan they gave up on but refunded everyone after it failed.

I actually got my order today. Color me surprised. Anyway, the put the LG UHD Blu-ray player in a box so big as ti increase the volume six fold or more. They had to use so much balloon padding because of the box it was crazy. Then there is the thing that this product left LG in California, went to South Carolina, then to Florida and then back up to me in Georgia. So, Walmart didn't actually have stock and they were just getting stock directly from LG on one-off basis. They need to learn from Amazon on manufacturer-direct shipments. For instance, when I bought some New Balance shoes from Amazon they were drop-shipped directly to me from the manufacturer. No routing of product about the country and eating up a week in transits.

The funny thing is that while you can buy product directly from LG's website, this product which is still sold isn't sold on their website. LOL
