Okay pal, I know NOW that ps2s are hard to find!

Now, I made a mistake in blaming walmart for their lack of supply since it's not their fault SORRY WALMART.

NOW THAT THAT'S OUT OF THE WAY.

What i was trying to say was that without that uncommon knowledge it's hard to not blame walmart w/ the information i had to work with at the time. agree?

What you're clearly not getting is that this isn't a Wal*Mart-exclusive problem; Sony isn't building PStwos fast enough to meet demand. They've taken a page right out of Nintendo's playbook, nothing builds demand like constrained supply (See N64 launch).

No. You're still an idiot. They don't have it, they can't sell it to you. Do you think they DON'T wnat to sell it to you? Jeez. You're going on the list because you just don't get it. They didn't do anything. You're pissed at them because they COULDN'T do it.

Damnit, why can't my gf make me a sandwich! Just because there isn't any bread in the fridge. That bitch!

Actually, I admitted I was wrong for being mad at walmart.

Now my line of reasoning for being angry with Walmart was under the assumption that PS2s are not hard to get was that walmart dramatically underestimated demand for them and therefore ran out before the biggest shopping day of the year (therefore being retarded). If you know anythign about Walmart's distribution system you would know that walmart tries to keep as little stock as possible so that they don't have to use warehouses. This is a big part of the reason why they are able to have prices as low as they do. I had thought that this system of trying to keep costs as low as possible while maybe losing money by not having a product in stock had caused my lack of being able purchase buying a ps2. Therefore, pissing me off...

Now my question to you is, if you didn't know that ps2s were hard to find would you have been pissed off at walmart for not having them with their buying power and thinking that their system was the problem?

no i would not be pissed off at walmart. why not you ask? well i'm not a idiot. no no its not because i understand the idea of supply and demand. its because i would have called BEFORE i drove 25 minutes to the store.

I can read just fine thanks. I read your statement as more along the lines of "Wal*Mart didn't buy enough PStwos. Stupid Wal*Mart"

okay, so you would have called if you were going for any system? hmmm well both stores were fully stocked w/ game cubes, game boys, xboxes, etc. etc. etc. So, i would have been fine if i was going for those as well. Under a normal (plenty of supply situation) they woudl have been fully stocked w/ ps2s as well as per my assumption. Especially considering the ps2 has been out for years. They did come out with a new model obviously, but again i assumed that most people had ps2s already and were not buying up the smaller one because their 150 dollars was more important to them than having a smaller ps2. If you call everywhere before you buy anything you are a much less trusting consumer(and more informed in the supply of ps2s) than I.

No, it was an apology for blaming walmart for a problem that they didn't cause and I have no idea how you read that statement that way considering that's not at all what it said.

I'm agreeing with waggy on where you're an idiot. I probably would have called because I knew of the demand. If I didn't know, I probably wouldn't have called. If the store was 25 minutes away I would have called. 5-15 minutes, no call. This would be for a bigger purchase of 100+. I'm not going to call a store to see if they have toilet paper in stock.

You still can't blame walmart for not having it though and I'm getting tired of trying to explain this to you. You're going on the list and this'll be my last reply.

Umm... I already admitted I was wrong about 5 posts ago, but I guess you missed that...

the reason i'm still posting about this is because I'm trying to prove that due to a lack of knowledge I made an incorrect decision. Much like invading Iraq and basing the decision on weapons of mass destruction... Based on his information he made the correct decision as I did based on my assumption that ps2s were easy to find which was obviously wrong. And I make one mistake based on a lack of knowledge and that therefore makes me an idiot. I'd imagine that none of you who are calling me an idiot have ever made mistakes before? Sorry, was just offended

yeap. and that ass is YOU! you should have called BEFORE you drove that far. pfft not walmarts fault but your own.

umm how about you stfu. you're telling me that you think that it's ok for THE LARGEST RETAILER IN AMERICA to be sold out of THE BEST SELLING CONSOLE IN THE WORLD the day before THE BIGGEST SHOPPING DAY OF THE YEAR!??!?!?!?

=|
What do you mean "it's ok"? It's ok for them to have as many of anything as they want. It's their store.

Anyway, it's a mistake I've made a few times, so now I call.

Sigh... at least i can admit when I was wrong, apparently you guys aren't grown up enough to apologize for calling me an idiot after i've presented you with a perfectly logical line of reasoning for my actions even though the end result was me wasting valuable gas and time as well as making inaccurate accusations. 🙁

With a store like walmart, all of their shipping orders are done from the main facility based on their sales.

What if, by chance, these stores didn't sell many PS2s or copies of San Andreas to warrant giving them extra copies, and those few people that like to do their shopping early just happened to be purchasing those items. It IS feasable that walmart decided to send more units off to the stores more likely to sell them.

That said, you should have called. It's not Walmart's fault that you drove their without them having it in stock.

That's precisely why I was frustrated with them... \I had felt that because their model was flawed in this particular instance that I was costed that ps2. Which is why I had mentioned their bad estimation of required inventory in an earlier post.

I have a very hard time believing that all of you would have called before going based on what I believed at the time. If you are all being honest about it then I guess we have differing experiences regarding large retailers (I've never been to walmart or a target when they were out of something).

HAHAHAHA I was waiting for that 😀

oh yeah... what's "being on the list" since i'm a n00b I dunno

Kelvrick's List of Dumbasses- check his sig. The reason everyone is calling you an idiot and not buying your "I'm not knowledgeable about the supply and demand of PS2s" is because if you're going somewhere to spend $150 on something, you either order it online or call in first, so you don't waste your time. And its not reasonable to assume things will be in stock "the day before the biggest shopping day of the year" because, hey, its the DAY BEFORE. Usually you stock at night for stuff so people don't come in bargain hunting.

Well alrighty then, thanks for the explanation... 🙂 Just thought they would have had it stocked earlier considering they were open for 24 hours tonight (normal closing hour was 9)

maybe they weren't put of it but hiding them until black friday. when i worked in retail, we would hide the power sellers in the back until black friday, why i dont know, and then have them available for the black friday customers.

I'll most certainly be checking out this possibility because I'm sure i've already been dubbed the uber n00b... I might as well post a followup 😀

So, today I got my ps2 at a gamespot YAY!. They had 14 of them left when I got there. I stopped by the walmart(it's right next to the mall) and they still didn't have any ps2s.

A sidenote... there were two hot girls working at the gamespot, how that happened I don't know. It was pretty nice considering I had to stand in line for 15 mins 🙂
