I'm with Skoorb on this one. I get so sick of seeing those little blue stickers, "Was $7.88" with a new price sticker of $6.50 attached to it. You lift up the little sticker and you can see the price has always been $6.50 since the old sticker is obviously very worn and has been up for a long time. Not that their prices aren't great. Just don't give me some BS about a price drop if you've had a low price all along. I'll respect you more for your low prices than lying to me about how you're slashing prices for me.
I had my own big Wal-Mart rant halfway typed up the other day and then my power crashed on me. Then Skoorb beat me to the punch

My big beef with them isn't their prices (obviously fantastic.) It isn't their employees (most I've encountered are very nice.) And it certainly isn't their selection (it's the ultimate one-stop shop.)
My big complaint is that they've become SO successful and popular that going there is now a MAJOR hassle, even if you go in the late night hours which is about the only time I'll go now. And any place there's a Wal-Mart you can virtually guarantee it'll cause traffic problems around it. Once you navigate the surrounding area you then have to do battle in the parking lots. Once you find a parking spot, you then have to engage in hand-to-hand combat inside the store for aisle space. And once you've bought all your stuff, you get to go up front and stand in lines reminiscent of Soviet bread lines back in the 70s. It's just TOO friggin crowded and not worth the hassle unless you're buying a LOT of stuff to justify the savings. And this isn't for lack of Wal-Mart stores in our area. We've had about half a dozen Wal-Mart stores pop up within 15 minutes of my house within the last 7 or 8 years. Most of these are now being converted into SuperCenters (including the same one Skoorb just went to.) So it's not as if we're lacking for choices.
I'll still go to Wal-Mart every now and then because their prices are SO good it's practically the only place that makes sense to do major shopping trips for household items. But I NEVER go in there anymore for a trip that'll cost less than $25. It's not worth the hassle for the modest savings at that price level. The only problem is that the success of stores like Wal-Mart, Target and K-mart (which is all but dead here now) have nearly killed off most of the small mom-and-pop options for smaller trips. Drug stores are now my store of choice when I'm making smaller trips. I may pay a bit more, but it's hassle-free.
