Did you find time to read that article? Because maybe you didn't notice where it says "Analysis of Netflix's DVD Allocation System." Walmart MIGHT use the same system, but they just as easily might NOT. Just because one company does, doesn't mean for certain that it's competitor does also.

Yes, I actually read it, thanks for pointing out that it talks about Netflix. I am sure they are either already or soon will be using a similar system, since it just makes sense, at least from a business point of view. If you are a long time customer and are using the system to the max, you can bear the long wait for the hot movies. If you only rent a handful a month, it is much more likely you bail out if you do not get what you want. Obvious to me.
I am very surprised that Walmart showed me during the trial period some of this behavior - how does this make one feel when a movie moves overnight from NOW to LONG WAIT (~30days)?

Walmart B&M stores do not like to carry the widescreen versions of DVDs. They actually force the studios to release Pan&Scan versions if they want Walmart to sell it (and who is going to refuse?). I would think that a Walmart online DVD service could have a similar policy. If you care about OAR, please don't support Walmart. Netflix always has the widescreen version.
Well so far walmart seems incredibly slow. This is day 4, and mail already came, no dvds. Their selection is smaller than netflix also. Netflix is WIN it looks like. However to the guy saying they dont carry wide screen versions. ALL the dvds I added into my queue were widescreen. Dont know what you are talking about.
I think all the people that are listing mail transit times should tell us what area they live in (Just the city, we don't need to know your zipcode or address

No, they apparently don't. I've had several BB corporate types tell me that BB owns stock in NetFlix, but nothing even like a majority interest.

FYI, saw on the financial news yesterday that NetFlix posted a profit for the first time this quarter.

No, they apparently don't. I've had several BB corporate types tell me that BB owns stock in NetFlix, but nothing even like a majority interest.

Fast, Shipped 11th in morning, got 12th. The distro center to return to is in Las Vegas, which probably explains it. Put it in the mail Saturday evening, so they should probably get my return on Monday.

Signed up for this and ordered 2 DVDs Wednesday morning, they arrived Saturday at noon, not too bad. Their distribution center in New York seems to be in Johnstown, NY - that's where they have DVDs sent back to.
When signing up advise that you fill a list of 6 DVDs that you want in the future, as soon as they recieve a DVD back they send out the next one on your list. Pretty efficient, but the shipping is a bit too slow. 3 days to get here and 3 days back. Can probably rent about 9 or 10 DVDs a month, depending on how quickly you watch them.

Not sure if being on 60 miles from the distribution center helps, but I signed up for this on friday afternoon and received my first 2 DVDs the next day. I'll see how well the rest of the month goes. Can't make up my mind on only one experience.

What do you mean the real cost? Your trial is free, then its 15 bux a month for 2, 18 for 3, 21 for 4
Meaning after taxes, etc. Is it $15 total or are there state taxes included? I know the trial is free

I'm usually 2-3 day wait with Netflix in Charlotte, NC. If they ship something on Monday, email will say to expect it Thursday but I *ALWAYS* get it a day earlier (on Wednesday.) Workweek turnaround is great, though on weekends they are slow (I mail something back on Saturday...they don't receive it until Wednesday?) I think their distro is near Atlanta...
sloooooooooooooow turn around for Chicago. I have been waiting for three business days since my first two dvd were shipped and still not got them yet. Where is their distribution center for Chicago customers? Moon?
I receive mine from Ga too and I experience the exact same turn around. I mail out mine (from the Post Office) on Sat and Sun and can usually receive 3 new movies by the next weekend.
My Wal-mart DVDs came today after shipping on Friday. Not too bad, but I''ll reserve my judgement. It's weird, nearly every movie I put in my queue had a "long wait" and now its available today...odd.
Their service is terrible. First of two DVDs arrived four business days after mailed out, and the second one has not come yet after five business days. Called customer service, and the agent said "I will send a notive to the sorting facility and they will look into it". Right, maybe after a week.
Site is slow slow slow, I will still try to the free trial, but I have been happy with Netflix, I am just too lazy to ever get my videos back in time to Blockbuster.
I get 4 discs at Netflix for $20.99 (grandfathered since I've been with them since 1999). The Walmart pricing doesn't seem to be any better; and their site is slow. Walmart seems to be making a run at Internet sales by copying other successful ventures. Their online photo center looks a lot like that of Ofoto but is slow and messy; but it is also half the price of Ofoto for 4x6 prints and there's no shipping cost for in-store pickup. Let's see if it improves over time.
Is that only me or what? most of the DVDs on my list turn "very long wait" or "long wait" from "available now" about 2 days ago. I have signed up for 17 days, and only got to watch 2 movies! Can you believe that? 2 movies in 17 days! And I kept each movie only overnight! Walmart claimed to send out 4 already but 2 never made to me, and the other two spent over a week on the road before they came to me! Walmart sucks!
Same here. I cancled right away, within the trial period - not worth the trouble. Funny how they get the movies BACK within a day, but mailing them OUT takes 3 days or more. Funny.
The two movies I got to watch, it took 3 days to ship back to Walmart! Either the post office didn't track them or Walmart just conneviently delayed the process.
