Gentlemen, man caves are a product of a bunch of men having their wives run the house and not allow them to improve their house as they see fit. So these men got stuck in a little room, their man cave, just like a toddler in their play room.

Buying into this man cave bullshit is accepting that women can put men and their interests in a little room off away from where others don't have to see men.

I for instance turned my entire basement into a theater and full bar. I don't have a little room or cave, I have 1500 square feet of win. That's bigger than most of your houses. Man caves should be fought against because they restrict men and make our likes and passions feel dirty.

Put the women back into the kitchen and give them a walk in closet and take back your homes!

The amount of fail in your post can't accurately be measured with current technology.

This.

You must not be married. Most households don't quite work like you think and is not the reason why men have their own space. You'll understand when your married for a while.

And this. I don't care if my wife decorates the rest of the house either. Less work for me to do. 😀 I may have a man cave, but I also have a full bar in the house and a huge (1000+ sq ft) patio with a hot tub, so I'm hardly "suffering" in my man cave. The only time I told her we were absolutely doing something in the living room that she was against was the addition of a receiver and new speakers for the home theater. She bitched about it at first but when I actually got everything and hooked it up, she LOVES it.

Yeah... I'm starting to understand the need for a man cave. I can't seem to be able to find a quiet place to watch sports anymore without having getting interupted by my wife or my daughter.

By the way... whoever put a crappy $278 laptop in the "Video Gamer" section should be forced to play Crysis 2 on it until they beg for forgiveness 🙂

You're looking at this from the wrong direction. I get a say in what goes in my house, but the Man Cave is 100% mine. It's not the remainder after she takes what she wants. Also, my house is 6,200 square feet. What do I win?

Spoken like someone who hasn't been laid in awhile 😀

Man caves are for the most part, married men with children to have a place of escape, like Calgon, but with balls.

We definitely don't need it. The house is close to work and has a lot of room for guests and entertaining. I also really wanted a room specifically for my piano. Again, not a need by any means, but it worked out that the newer house could set aside space for the piano.

The basement is 2,100 square feet, so it's not like we have 6,200 square feet of finished house. My kids ride their bikes in the basement and there's a trampoline down there as well. I guess it isn't really a man cave as there's only a few square feet that I call mine, but I'm happy to give the rest to them.

Man caves are stupid.
Definitely an annoying cliched trend. Any time somebody mentions it I get this impression they expect me to giggle like an idiot, like pavlov's dog just at the mere mention of it. It's patronizing.

nothing purchased from walmart though lol.

my wife also likes it though and loves watching movies down there. so i guess it's not a "man cave" in the sense she is not allowed down there. we plan on putting a bar down there too in the not too distant future.
I like this. I think a lot of ladies would find it "cold" to watch a movie down there, but guys focus more on the tech.

I have an above average setup, with properly placed surround speakers and the TV being the room's focal point, but it's less impressive than yours.

More of a home theather than a man cave. No foosball/pool/pingpong table (for beer pong), booze fridge/dispenser, posters/signs on the wall, etc.

He gets bonus points for having one of each modern game console, though.

I'd give extra credit for some movie posters and a pinball machine.

my killer instinct 2 cabinet is in my garage and i don't plan on moving it down there. too heavy and honestly not sure if it would fit through the door and down the stairs. the thing is over 400lbs and just massive.

eventually going to make some movie posters out some accoustical panels.

Some of us don't shit gold and can afford to make an entire basement a man cave, like yourself. So we make one room into the man cave.

When you put on that ring, it is a legal binding that the wife IS the boss, and the papers you sign also dictate she can take anything and everything she wants and leave, if you do not agree with this. Thus, the need for a man cave. I choose not to get married or have a GF controlling my life, so I get the whole house to myself.

Those rings also make you disappear, and make you see scary things. You can get rid of it, but it's a very expensive journey.

i wish this would go away
mancave sound fuckin stupid
like sitting around scratching my ballsw.
tony siragusa farting and eating wings and shit
and thas the better thing i think of when i hear it
this dudebrobatcave shit has to go

If you're happy with a man cave more power to you. Personally I don't like the term man cave because regardless of how it really is, is does imply that the man is shoved into a room and the rest of the house has to comply to some code that isn't his. I pay all the bills in this house including my mortgage, so as far as I'm concerned the whole house is my man cave. I do consult my bride to be on most matters concerning the decoration of the house, not because I have to, but because I want to and respect her, but I hold the final veto on it. I just cringe at hearing some couple friends of mine speak of him getting told no like a child and he "can put it in his man cave". It just doesn't feel like an equal relationship to me. Again.. my late night I should turn in disclaimer: If you're happy with how ever your house is run, that's all that matters. Not some random person on the interwebs.
