I really don't understand the console insanity.

Why not play games on a PC? Can you design your own custom maps on a console? No. Can you go to IRC channels and arrange matches on a console? No. Can you manage a server from a console? No. Can you download, install, and manage custom maps as easily on a console? No.

I guess what bothers me is the sense I have that the console games are watered down and and are less likely to have worthwhile content. I sure hope they don't spell the deathknell for the PC gaming industry (if it isn't already dead).

Can your friends come over and all play on your PC with you?

Lots of opinions flying around a "hot deals" thread. figured I'd toss my 2 pennies in.

Concerning the "Next Gen War", all systems have their own respective drawing points. I own a Wii currently, had it since launch day, I play it almost daily with my son and wife. It is "family" oriented, but when wanting to play a "real" game, the wii for sure won't cut it.

360, I will soon be upgrading from my regular xbox to a 360 and picking up the hddvd drive. Do I believe it is the best system on the market? No, however it is the most well rounded and does what for multiplayer what most system/pc things can only hope to achieve.

PS3, it isn't the end all system as sony totes, but one day it will be something great. However that day is not now, nor will it be anytime in the near future. Almost no exclusive's, the few that they have/will have aren't be all end all apps, It is banking on a expensive/questionable format(note Sony gloating how much space is used on it's blu-ray when the simple fact is that designer's are just not compressing files), and lastly things don't seem "that" much better than current 360 counterparts.

PC-viruses, spyware, the fact I have to sit at a chair and not on my couch(well i could change that, but still), "future proof" does not exsist, there is many reasons i buy console games at a rate of 5-1, sadly none of those things listed above are those reasons.

Big money caters to "gen pop", computer gamers are no longer "gen pop". :(

Notes-I will eventually own all 3 "next gen" systems, currently though the 360 warrants purchase in the near future.

Disclaimer- My opinions are listed above, if you don't agree with them, i have a mail box you can contact me through to debate what I posted. :)

XBOX360 is still my platform of choice.

Wii is fun for about 20 minutes and then I just want to sit down with my XBOX360 controller. I just hate hate hate Nintendo's game lineup. I feel like I am 8 again playing my NES, when Mario and Teenage Mutant Ninga Turtles were socially acceptable.

Eh, Xbox 360 to me is like a PC. Look at the games, they can be mostly found for PC.

Only the bad ones... all the good ones are console only:

Gears of War
Fight Night Round 3
CoD 3

They don't need to come over. They can play online multiplayer games with me on the same server while doing voice comm chatting on Teamspeak.
