Walmart closes 5 stores

5 stores can accommodate 2200 workers?
You can be sure they aren't working the cash registers...I swear none of them have more than 2-3 open at a time:colbert:

But that's like 440 per store, counting full and part-time people to run a 24/7 store I can see it

They are open 24hrs per day. 8hr day per employee = 3 shifts or 21 shifts per week. One worker can only work 5 shifts per week if full time. A store probably needs at least 50 employees present to run properly. Around 5 employees to cover a single shift for the week, so 5*50 = 250 full time people to cover all shifts. Take into account most are part time and you have ~500 part timers to cover the store. 5 stores * 500 people = 2500 people, which aligns well with what they said.

When Walmart starts closing stores for any reason, hell has surely frozen over.
However bad the economy is or was in the past, Walmart always seems immune.
But this?
If Walmart is indeed hurting, the end of all life is near.

I live in Midland where one of the stores was closed. On Wednesday, people were reporting military vehicles and personnel were coming and going from the Wal-Mart building.

I've also heard other rumors that FEMA was involved in the closings.

I think Midland is one of the cities being used for Jade Helm, too.

:hmm:

I think it's because Nibiru is set to flyby in August of 2015, bringing with it the Annunaki, who will obviously hit Wal*Marts to find adequate slaves to mine gold for them.

I used to work at Walmart. We were told legends that the prophecy would some day come true...

Shit I've said too much.

Illuminati....super-vanish! *pop*

Your appointment to FEMA should be finalized within the week

Mostly sarcastic but I do find it odd there have been no permits have been pulled and all the closed stores were closed were for the same reason.

5 stores can accommodate 2200 workers?

some of their stores are immense, open 24 hours, and mostly staffed with part timers so you need more employees to fill in the gaps.

so yea, 400 employees per store doesn't sound to far off.

I've been to their stores in my area for work in the middle of hte night, these aren't the "super" walmarts, and not open 24 hours, still had about 40 employees unloadin trucks and stocking shelves on the night shift.

I don't know, seems kind of drastic to shut down 5 stores for about 6 months each cause some of the employees pissed you off...

possibly a legal thing? can't just fire everyone for wanting to unionize, close the store for 6 months, all those employees go elsewhere for work, rehire process a month before store opens, don't rehire people who used to work there.

pretty solid business strategy.

or possibly a cover for something else altogether, we'll probably never know the truth.

There was some speculation that the stores that were closed gave Walmart the biggest problems with regards to unionizing.

This. Heard about it in that regard as well.

Of course, people reporting that could always be tinfoiling...

Honestly if people want to unionize, I don't know why you would try to start at the single store level....

Either way, I hold no sympathy for people stupid enough to unionize for RETAIL jobs.. Dur hurrr... Between now and when the store re-opens 50% of the workers for those stores will have their workers recycled. Too much turnover
